A few posts under my belt
Lease for the Bank House is for sale again, appears to be remaining 8 years of a 10 year lease.
Lewis Partnership have confirmed they are selling it and will continue running it until a buyer is found. They claim it is profitable and was always their intention to move on once it was refurbished.
Seems slightly odd to walk away so soon though if it really is profitable.

We are working closely with our European friends to ensure a deal

Anyone know what’s going on here?
Apparently it opened last Thursday but this week it’s completely closed again.

I’ve heard a few things but don’t want to repeat rumours if they are not true.

It only opens when they feel like it, for a couple hours occasionally. Their current business model seems to be renting space for pop ups but not publicising anything other than the odd Facebook. Considering the investment that was put into the place they don't really seem very bothered about the place. Shame really when it's the only pub there now & the Cock at Stowe seems to be doing well.

No, what I heard was more than that, something was occurring on Facebook, but I’m not on Facebook so I can’t verify it.

I've just checked ( not on Facebook) & they announced on Monday 19th that they've ceased trading. Hardly surprising considering the way they've been in the last 2 years. No doubt they'll blame the pandemic but they've really been half arsed for a long time before that. They were only open for a short time last week.
Shame really.

The Lewis Partnership have taken the decision to cease trading at The Bank House, Hixon.
As from Monday 19th April 2021 we will be closing with immediate effect.
We have not taken this decision lightly but due to the abuse the Lewis family have received on social media groups over the weekend regarding the way we run our business we have decided that we are no longer willing or able to continue trading.
We wish the people of Hixon all the best for the future and hope that the pub has another licensee very soon.

Ok so this is what I heard from someone I know that lives in Hixon, who goes regularly and who was there at the weekend.
This person was talking to a member of staff who said how delighted they were to be open again, great plans were afoot, everything was going to be wonderful.

Then allegedly someone posted something on Facebook about the high cost of a glass of wine.
A few comments were made, people got involved and then the next thing they’ve closed the pub and more or less blamed the regulars.

Then apparently some people had a go at this woman saying it was her fault for complaining but others said that the company would surely have had complaints before over the years so why was a tantrum being thrown by the management over this, it’s all totally unprofessional etc.

So now people are wondering if he’d intended to close anyway but was putting the blame on the villagers and using it as an excuse as it were.

Because anyone with sound business sense doesn’t close down a potential gold mine just because of a few negative comments.
