The problem is that barking is several doors down- there are dogs between us and them who aren't noisy shits who I wouldn't want to accidentally poison/ feed to death/ scare with noise.

It's probably worth remembering that it isn't the fault of the dogs. That is what dogs do. The fault lies with the owner of the dogs.
