I must say I'm a bit jealous of people that live in Baswich/weeping cross, it's a bit further from town but a bit closer to cannock chase so!

Just seems a lovely area in general, rather quiet when I go on random walks too, shops are there for what you need also.

Looking forward to the "bod" to try it,

Can't find it on-line now, but last nights Express and Star had a rather misleading report.
Makes it sound as though the Titanic pub is going on the same site as the old Lynton Tavern, rather than in a different premises across the road (the old Co-op)

reading.....

'Pub will return to former glory'
A pub which was pulled down to make way for supermarket is set to be restored to its former glory.
Residents of Weeping Cross are said to be 'delighted' to welcome back a pub, which will also be a cafe, after Lynton Tavern was replaced by a Co-op.
Directors of Titanic Brewery David Bott,59, and Keith Bott,51, grew up in Stafford and remembered when it was Lynton Tavern. The pub closed at the end of 2009 and was turned into a meeting room before the Co-op was given the green light in 2014 and it opened two years later....'

Roadworks Tixall Road
12 & 13-15 Feb

Feels like roadworks have gone on at that part of tixall road forever, I know there's that new estate? something constantly to do with that?

First saw roadworks down there over a year ago, it keeps going on, and on.

It would be criminal to have free-flowing traffic for too long.

When I came here in 1974, "Roadworks on Radford Bank" was already a standing joke....

Once again hasn't that road been worked on very recently ? Maybe further up..

At least they're doing some good, you'd think.. right?
They did some repairs to repairs at the bottom of the bank not so long ago. From the state they left it in, I can see it needing doing again in the near future.

What do 'they' care?

'We' pay for it in every sense of the word.
When Severn Trent were laying their pipes across Radford Bridge, I was walking past as workmen were staring looking into the big hole scratching their heads wondering what to do next about some problem. Boss like bloke comes across ...(something like...can't remember exact words) " just throw some tarmac in and fill it in!" Must have done the same thing further up the Lichfield Rd by the end of Knowle Rd, as soon after that stretch was finished it sprung a leak with a fountain of water shooting out of the tarmac. Diggers moved in again !

The 'it'll do' mentality of many who work in public services or for utility companies pisses me off more than I could ever convey.

In the real world, where there isn't a bottomless pit if money from rip-off utility charges or taxation, it would lead to bankruptcy very swiftly.

In my limited personal experience, things are in this sort of order.

Gas/electricity - not too bad, if you manage to talk to the right person. Possibly the potential for some real danger has a beneficial effect on the level of response?

Phones - could be better - obviously - Sky, Virgin/other mobile operators customer "service" is beyond offensive.

Water - there isn't a place low enough on the list.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the likes of Sky and Virgin.

And banks.

So not just the public sector/utilities but also those with a captive audience.

I wish my businesses had captive audiences. Then I could afford to stop being nice to some who are really quite obnoxious.

I pointed out to my bank this very morning that they have a slight glitch in their system. It shows the wrong balance for an account in one place and the right balance in another. I was told to look at the right one....
