Have you still got the mini tractor towing 55 gallon plastic drums with kids in?
Thought that was great, H & S would have a fit.

So sorry for late reply.

Not my decision but it has been cancelled.

We wanted to go ahead but the people whose garden it was in were against it.

So much hard work gone into it as well.

Edited to add that I am really really sorry for those that had a wasted journey.
I have had a morning pf phone calls/e mails etc trying to sort it out, but I should have put it on here sooner.

My apologies.

It's not your fault, shame it's been cancelled but in this weather perfectly understandable. Just a shame all the cakes etc will go to waste, maybe worth contacting house of bread if there is anything not being used? I'll happily offer you a tenner donation to whatever the funds were meant to go to if you donate some unneeded edibles?

In past experience people come whatever the weather, they just whizz round really quickly instead of lingering. Obviously everyone wants a sunny day but on previous years when it has tipped it down we have still taken the same amount of money. We have never cancelled because of bad weather before.

I dont know what is happening to the food for the afternoon tea, think she has frozen it.

I know that lots of people had make cakes for the cake stall.
I had also e mailed the village to ask for Tombola prizes and we had people donating whisky, some people gave 6 bottles of wine, one man donated about £100 worth of booze, other people gave brand new stuff.
I have about 700 books donated.
Various restaurants donated meal vouchers.
To try and return these gifts which were given in good faith is a bit of a challenge.

The thing is...now no one is admitting to who actually cancelled the event...the stories about who said what are changing by the hour.

It is the biggest fundraiser for the church so they have lost out.

We may be able to save it because the school are having a fete in July and have very kindly offered to give us some space to do some stalls to perhaps make some money.

There are so many goings on/village politics and derring-do for such a small village.
One almost expects Insector Barnaby to turn up at any moment.

If you want to do a stall to get rid of the books I think we're only charging £10 at our festival.

Thank you Lucy that is very kind of you to think of us.

We have already thought doing a stall and if we do then the Bednall car boot is just at the top of our road.

YES ITS THE BEST BIT
Two local farmers (Rob and Henry) take it in turns doing the mini tractor/train rides ......its usually 2 times round whichever field the fete is in that year..

Anyway a few years ago the kids get very exited and are all "GO FASTER MISTER GO FASTER MISTER"

So Rob the farmer goes faster.

At the end of the ride he realised that there was actually quite a lot of cow sh*t in the field and whiile he had been "going faster mister" the kids were covered in muck.
Covered in muck ..........faces and clothes.

He is rapidly using a bit of handy rag whch he spits on to wipe the muck of the kids faces and clothes before he gives the kids back to their parents.

No parent complained...just village life I suppose.
