Bereavement Councillor Recommendations Please

Hi,

A sensitive request for help. I am by my own admission needing some help to come to terms with a recent bereavement.

I believe some advice from a Bereavement Councillor may be helpful to me, preferably female as always relate better to ladies and in the Stafford Area. There are many on the internet listed however in this field recommendation goes a long way.

Hoping some one can help. PM me if you would rather it was a private chat.

Thanks....

Thanks John, seeing them tomorrow however always like to ask other forumites of their recommendations. In this case everyone is happy and never used one...

Of course..

I have found grieving to be something that presents in various stages

Shock, Denial, Anger, Sadness, Acceptance are some

Often the worst feelings can appear three months on, after the 'fuss' has calmed down

Anti depressants may help in the short term.

If you can't 'see colours' then some medication could be something that can help you through a couple of stages

Often doing the simple things is what you might need - walking, visiting the countryside, rediscovering some old music, excercise is a big booster for the mood. Try and avoid a lot of alcohol.

Brazil nuts and chocolate aren't all bad

Braking your routine won't do you any harm either, a chance for the new and shared experiences

A sincere thanks John for your helpful advice which I shall take notice of.

Will see how this manifests itself in time!

Unfortunately, counselling via NHS is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, and will take up to three months before you get to sit down with anyone. Even then they aren't overly sympathetic. For it to be useful you might find, if you are able, paying to go privately is the way to go.

Might be worth enquiries at Katherine House and Age UK for pointers on a counsellor. Also, some work places have counsellors on the books and will pay for sessions.
