It's that time of year again where I look for earworm albums to add to my playlist over the Christmas holidays. What are your favourite album(s) of 2011?

Not to everyone's taste, i know, but to me they can do no wrong - Radiohead King of Limbs, and the wondrous PJ Harvey Let England Shake.

Haven't bought much music this year so haven't anything else - apart from The Lines, of course, every tune i've heard of theirs (mostly on Stafford FM) being a belter.

i've genuinely struggled to think of any decent albums released this year. hopefully 2012 wil be slightly better

My taste is country so probably not what you are looking for, but I really enjoyed The Pistol Annies, Hell On Heels and the Jason Aldean album, My Kinda Party.

Agree with you about the PJ Harvey album. She is a very talented lady. Country isn't one of my favourite genres but am always willing to give it a try. I do like Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket who mix country with alternative rock. Have enjoyed the albums below this year.

Have you come across The Silver Seas? If not have a listen to their cover of John Martyn's Fairytale Lullaby here: http://www.thesilverseas.net/fr_newwebsite.cfm On Front Row this week David Hepworth chose their album Chateau Revenge as his favourite of the year and said that he had been challenging friends to buy it and ask him for their money back if they didn't love it.
