Beware mobile call scam alert

Today I have received 9 calls that look like they're from mobiles and one No caller ID.

I've only answered 2 of them because I'm off today and didn't want to be bothered with work stuff. Both were automated messages.

One call purported to be claiming that my NI number had been compromised on the Welsh border and to press 1 for details and the other purported to be from HMRC saying I owed them money and unless I pressed 1 I would be immediately arrested.

Needless to say I didn't respond but I suspect if you call such numbers back they will be at premium rate. So please be aware.

I am now on the run taking Bee for walkies on the Isobel line so don't tell HMRC where I am. Also I shall be extra wary when we're allowed to travel when I am anywhere near the North Wales border.

Had a few of those myself. An automated call saying an Ipad has been purchased on my Amazon Account and to press 1 for details. As you say ... pure scam.

Every weekday we get such scam calls, and mostly automated calls meaning the fraudster can't be told to Feck Off.
( One letter of my penultimate word has mysteriously been changed )

For the three months before the end of January, I had regular spurious, although genuine, HMRC texts reminding me of what i was already aware of - this just helps to make the fake ones look a bit more genuine, perhaps?

I had a text today , supposedly from HSBC, saying attempts had been taken to take money from my non- existent account with them. Click on link ..

Had several scam ones supposedly from my Lloyds Bank as well , immediately after ringing Talk Talk .

Son had scam texts supposedly from HMRC , within an hour of ringing HMRC the other day, asking to confirm bank details.
Rather a coincidence :hmm:
Not so clever...they got the amount way off what hes actually due back
