Its enormous. Facebook says its at Goodwins (? * I don't know what Goodwins is). There have also been warnings that the smoke is highly toxic & to keep all doors & windows closed......

*from my house it looks like its at the little farm on Common Rd

Goodwins is a removal company. Fire is at Global Hygiene.

Is it? Seems to be no immediate problem here, looking out of my window....

Traffic still running in both directions.
That's what the coppers told hubbys boss when they came and told them they were ok to stay at the moment, but to keep doors and windows shut.

Reminiscent of the carpet warehouse fire about thirty years ago, behind Belassis Street, where the buses park now.

That's what the coppers told hubbys boss , said they were closing top of Sandon Road .
They may well do, but there's no real reason for it, sometimes they just feel a need to be seen to 'respond', I suppose...

All seems normal on the road now - just a bit dark.

Fire is raging now, stuff popping off every second.....

It's snowing a bit - that might help.

The Express and Star article says the the Fire service are trying to keep the fire away from 40,000 litres of oil.

This is very nasty. Hope noone gets hurt.

Apparently one of the nearby primary schools has contacted parents to collect their children as they have decided to close - trying to find out which one

Can imagine they have some pretty nasty chemicals stored in there....

Well and truly out of control now by the looks of it, hopefully anyone in there made it out safely

There is 40000 litres of oil on site, which they are trying to stop the fire spreading to, according to E&S article.

Confirmed - John Wheeldon have sent a message out saying they do not believe there is a risk to their pupils so they are remaining open

Reported so far: 1 with minor burns. One E&S article says fire started in office area.
