Have been talking to my neighbour this morning and he said he has read somewhere that bin collections are to be reduced form a two week schedule to three. Has anybody else heard anything about this. ?

I hope it isn't true . I struggle with them being emptied fortnightly . My bins are always full after the first week and I have to fill up everyone elses bins on bin day.

For me, bin capacity for the extra week isn't going to be a problem as there's just the two of us, but it's going to pong a bit in the summer. :o

It won't be all that bad guys.
I remember a few moons ago it went from weekly to fortnightly and ...ohh ...the ...fuss!?

So, one week - blue & brown bin, the next - green, but they'll be a week where they don't collect anything right?* I take it this is a cost cutting exercise ie peoples jobs on the crap heap!

*my maths right?

I wondered that.

Maybe they'll collect blue and brown bins on different weeks. Personally I'd prefer all 3 on the same day as it'd involve a lot less faffing around.

All new wheelie bins are smaller than the old, a three week pickup will just encourage fly tipping or as I said before spoiling of recycling.

When I got to sons flat yesterday, which has their row of bins lined up behind the flats, a car had pulled up into their entrance yard and 2 blokes were emptying a car load of rubbish into them! Asked them what they were doing.....they muttered something in a foreign language , said "5 minutes" and carried on.....:raise: Seemed to be a regular occurance.

(And after being a super mum ,taking the flat rubbish down to the bins for them yesterday, realised after slinging the general rubbish into the green bins first that they were 'green bins' ...oooops, plenty of bottles and cans to sling on top though  )

Will be putting my bin out the last minute if we do get a reduced service. Already finding other peoples rubbish in mine when I've put it out late the previous night and go to add to it in the morning before the binmen come..

TV reports said that council officials had visited on 4 occasions to discuss the matter with him. At the court he claimed that his landlord had nailed the back gate shut rather then the reports version that it was stuck after bad weather. It feels as if there is more to it than the reports are saying.
