Bin There - Seen it

This week sees the start of the new fortnightly bin collections and to celebrate, everyone on Weeping Cross and Radford Bank put out green, brown and blue bins, with black sacks of varying sizes. Dear dear!! it was not their day for collections but never mind, the Council sent out waste collection wagons the next day at 7am to empty the bins. Problem was, everyone in Walton-on-the-Hill was expecting a pick up on Friday, so the wagon toured the streets uncluttered by bins. What a waste!! Next thing you know the Council will claim it's short of dosh!!

Collections of the new blue bins don't start until the 8th at the earliest - everyone should have an easy to understand colour coded calendar.

Dido, put out a full green bin this eve only to (10 mins later) realise that it's a brown and blue day tomorrow. Brought the green back in and out with the brown an blue. The green bin is full, the brown bin is full, the blue bin is full. What shall I do? Eat the rubbish, we are not that wasteful................. :?:

Sorry - my collection starts on the 8th! I knew I had the 8th in my head for some reason.

If anyone does have any questions this might be of interest

Blue Bin emptied - Brown bin not emptied, and then kindly filled up even more by someone else. No reasons why.

Put blue bin out Tuesday evening ready for Wed collection, didn't bother with brown, as there wasn't a lot in it. (it was bloody windy Tuesday evening, didn't want it blown around the street) Blue bin collected no probs (it was brimmed!)

Not sure what time though, the green bin collection is usally my wake up call as they usually bang around at about 7.15 without fail. They hadn't been for the blue even by 8.30 when I left for work, but it was empty when I came back for lunch at 12.

ONly problem.... the green bin is overflowing, with another week to go..! Looks like a trip to the tip this weekend.

First blue/brown bin collection here - nae problems at all. But... the bloody handle on my paper crate that goes in the top has snapped off!! To be fair there was quite a lot of paper in it, but it still ought to withstand being picked up with a full load of paper in!!

I put the blue and green out and it should have been blue and brown! DOH! Now left with an overflowing green that's got to last until next week.

Consideing how much stuff can now go in the blue and brown bins - how do you fill a green bin? It would take me months!

i think months is an exaggeration, but i do think the variety of waste one can put in the blue bin is impressive, and fortnightly collections are now (for our household, at least) feasible.. there are 3 people in my house (me, ms. dirtybobby, and my sister) and after a week our green bin is just over half full.. basically just bits n bobs that you can't put in the blue bin - tetra packs, meat carcasses, general food waste, etc..

There's 4 adults in our place, all working different shifts, so eating junk in stupid packaging. Means we used to fill more than a green bin a week! Most of that was my beer cans though, so is OK now :D
