Birmingham Christmas Market

Fridays and Saturdays are no good, you can't get near anything, by the time you have a beer you'd better start queing for the next! We've done Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the past few years and although it's busy the further into December you get, it's a far nicer experience.

Saturday is indeed a nightmare, but I've tended to take a Friday off work and start and finish early at the Market. It doesn't get too crowded until after half 4 usually on a Friday.

Just thought Saturday would suit a majority. I've often been on a Saturday and found that, although crowded you can still get around.

Always best to be on the bus by nightfall - things can get a little hostile when the local Carling drinkers discover the beer they have been drinking is twice the strength

Wasn't that impressed on my recent visit, far too much repetition of stalls, ended of in The Post Office Vaults - great choice of cask ale & cider

I think its over rated. If you are going to Brum Christmas shopping then it may be worth having a look, but I personally wouldn't make a special trip for it.

We were meeting friends anyway so after we went for a look around, it was really expensive. As we had just eaten we didn't have a bratwurst which would have been a highlight and hubby decided he didn't fancy a beer :ohno:which i think would have been great. We just ended up walking around it which was a bit pointless really. We did get some mead :) There were a couple of stalls selling food products and i'm pretty sure i've seen the exact same things in Lidl for half the price.
Didn't even get to go in the Post Office Vaults either as i was told it would be packed and he wasn't going in. Meh :(

Haha, sounds like a day out with my husband, he'll decide he doesn't like something before we even get there, then he spends the day with a face on him finding fault with ever suggestion and spoils it for everyone else.

Although he loves the Christmas market.

Five of us ventured over on Saturday. Really good atmosphere about the place. I'm sure the Christmas tree in The Old Joint Stock is bigger than the one in Stafford town square. Downside was £12.00 minimum parking charge in the NCP car park behind the Smallbrook Queeensway Raddison hotel and no warning until you're actually on the entrance ramp with a queue of vehicles behind preventing you from backing off and going elsewhere.

Went this afternoon/evening and whilst it wasn't as packed as some Saturdays I have been to, it was still very busy, What struck me was how good natured everyone was with people of differant nationalities literally rubbing shoulders with each other. I just can't understand how people get stressed out over christmas, my wife gets serious abuse (been sworn at etc) trying to sort out deliveries.

Been for three or four years with the family. Daughter's fiancee is German ( sort of ) and he likes it, however one year he spoke to one of the people on a stall in German and the reply in English was "I don't understand you. I'm Polish, I'm just working on the stall"
