Block paving mess

Anyone else recently had block paving work done, and been left with a mess? Just be aware that it's easy to collect money for cleaning it (it's actually an easy DIY job), but laying it requires a bit more skill and time (though still not that hard). The blocks are not level, not butted up to each other properly, and not in the correct pattern. I had to insist on the trip hazards being removed. Today was the day he said he'd return to fix it, I was in all day, nothing! So much easier just to do it myself.

I bet hes of the non tax paying variety. That looks like a bodge it and scarper type job, probably found (sorry meant created) a few other jobs that needed doing and he usually does them for a couple of hundred quid morenbut being as hes here he can do it at a discount rate cus if you call him back it will be full price.

What odds will you be giving?

Now that machine looks good!

The guy that left me with a mess has a local address, and a fancy trailer. Not sure about the name and shame thing on here (yet), but if you get anything looking like this through your door...

Never been terribly impressed with qualifications, I have a load and I am a nincompoop

I wonder what the exam board for block paving do in their down time

Most of the appalling paving is round the back, but all visitors to the front door get to see this bit. Initially the block was upside down! Think I might put a wee sign up ;) Still no contact from them. This will of course be the last bit I fix... What is the definition of a cowboy trader?

Not trying to be rude, but no-one would pay for work of that quality.............would they??

that is a crap job. did you want the basket weave pattern, or did he do that to avoid any cuts, so he could 'fit' the blocks without doing any.
if he's been paid, he won't be coming back.
who is it we have to avoid?

Many years back I went away for a few days and someone was building a decoritive brick wall in my back garden while I was away.

I had bought the materials, he was doing the work.

Well what a mess he made....and ruined half the bricks. When I told him it was a disgrace he said

"I have never been too good on walls but I will put it right".

I told him to beggar off....I said if he knew how to build a wall he would have done it right in the first place...and he was lucky I wasnt charging him for the damaged bricks.

So going back to the block paving.....why get him back to fix it? If he could do a good job he would have done it first time round.
