Bombay Railway is an excellent documentary, even if you're not interested at all in railways.

When you've watched it, hands up those who want Vivek Sahai running Virgin West Coast...

Thank you sir Mr Gramaisc sir - wonderful to watch

Having been there already this year I long to get back. What they did'nt tell you in the film was that they introduced a bullet train to travel from Bombay to Goa in just 3 hours - the usual train takes 9 hours.
Those living around the railway were so used to the old speed trains that it killed hundreds along its path and had to be cancelled, so the journey is back to nine hours.

Vivek? never mind running the railway here , how about the country?

Whatever you say about India, the exact opposite is always true

The sub-title was '1. Pressures.', so I presume there may be subsequent episodes to follow, including the fast train story, perhaps.

I just watched pt 2 which probably wasnt as good as pt 1 but it did show the Bombay to Goa train and the catering therin which I can recommend, particularly the chicken curry priced at 78 pence including naan bread and rice

Apologies - It was 'live on BBC4 I think but the New Zealand wine prevented me from passing on any information that may have made sense to the three people on the forum who may have made any sense of me previously

If that makes sense

As much sense as it usually does. Anyway, it was on iPlayer and it has been watched.

Vivek Sahai said:
You have areas where you can't make a profit, but you can't abandon your people there.
I thought that it was almost as good as the first one, and I wonder if we should try to remake the ending on Stafford Station?..

That was a little depressing at times, and Mr. Langan's approach seemed a bit patronising, I felt.

References to Thomas were patronising, I wonder if they will do an update after a period in the hands of the Chinese?

Channel 4 are alleged to have payed the Taliban £150,000 to release him a couple of years ago, I wonder if he patronised them?.
