Hopefully some of you good people will be well aware of the book 'Silent Spring' by Rachel Carson. It's not often that a book really does change the world but this is probable one of them. Back in the early 1960's it brought the world's attention to the way that pestesides were being used in the environment and the associated vested interests of big business for the first time. It is probably the foundation stone for the modern environmental movement, the organic movement, our mistrust of big business etc etc.
Anyway...Rachel Carson's life story has been made into a one woman play and it is to visit Stafford Gatrehouse Theatre for one night only on Tuesday 4 March. Tickets are cheap at just £5.50 and available from the Gatehouse.
