i have no idea why i'm admitting this in public, but i really like that new britney tune - "3", i believe it's called.. i've tried to stop myself, and keep telling myself to act my age, but i can't get it out of my head (no, wait, that's kylie innit :teef:)..

i dunno, the way her voice sounds computer-generated, and the vocal edits and tight programming just make me go

i'll get my coat :soz:

Is that a Moomin?
Its ok to like one piece of music, it doesnt necessarily mean you like the artist these days, merely you like the lyrics someone wrote for them, the producer who mixed it and the post production that made it listenable.

OOOOhhh the cynacism it burns, it burns!!!

well, exactly.. funnily enough, i was thinking a similar thing when i came to the revelation that i like the song in question.. it is so well produced, and there are so many cheeky electronic tricks in there, that if exactly the same song had have been released by deadmau5 or some equally trendy "electronica" producer, everyone would lap it up.. it's only cos it's britney that people automatically dismiss it, when in reality it could be any old generic "singer" doing to vocal - the real talent is the chap sitting in front of logic audio for months on end making all the interesting bleeps and bloops!

If I was to list all the songs I like listening to, I'd get thrown out of the Heavy Metal Appreciation Society.
("Maple Leaf Rag"? Bring it on.)

Is this, like, confessions corner? Can I confess to liking the new Westlife song? Or have I crossed a line?

have you tried listening to it next to the original? it's literally identical.. and, no, i am not mis-using the word "literally" there..

but yeah, maybe i'll get admin to change this thread title to "britney spears - and other shameful musical confessions" lol

New Westlife song? What is it a cover of this time?
Speaking of "literally identical", Hear'Say's (remember them?) first single was a cover of a song by some obscure girlband. Apparently it was literally identical. Like, the producers had taken the original backing and dubbed new vocals on.

Edited thread title, and moved to the correct forum. Not entirely sure why this was in "Entertainment" when it's clearly a music orientated thread!

Damn right about that weslife song. I think I prefer the daughtry version. Which makes it all ok. The universe has righted itself. I don't like westlife. Thanks, DB. :)

so, am i over-stepping the mark if i admit to liking that new katy perry thing with the annoying whistling in it? :shifty:

i hate the whistling, but the rest of it is pretty gosh darn well-produced.. it's how i imagine pendulum would produce pop-music - twisting synths, staccato vocal edits, etc..

also, the guys behind it are either hilarious or hilariously awful - you decide:

I'll have both please, with whipped cream and a cherry.
no you won't.. zzooeeyy bechamel is a vegan, so she'd run a mile if you whipped out whipped cream

i'm lead to believe that katy perry loves the taste of cherry chapstick though, so she might be ok with the arrangement..

Although i think shes bat sh*t bonkers, i like alot of lady gaga stuff :P
Forget Katy Perry. Lady Gaga rules. Also if you wikipedia her she is actually incredibly talented and quite interesting. She does NOT have a willy.
