Brown water

Anyone else have brown tap water?
It's been getting steadily worse all day and is now the colour of concetrated urine (sorry!).
Do I need to be concerned?
I'm trying to run it out by running the taps but this is not working.
In the meantime I'm drinking the only thing in the house which is not tap water - beer.
:)

Water board chaps were operating sluices at the Lotus lights this morning. My water is slightly tinged - possibly related.

Also brown water in bits of Castletown. I'm adopting the same safeguard as you. Good luck, and be strong (lager).

Ours has now cleared in Coton Fields, so just keep them taps on full force for a while and I reckon your heading for success.
Had to go buy bottled water this morning before I could have me morning brew

They always say that it's only discolouration and can't do you any harm, but I'm sorry if it can stain my sinks it aint drinkable enough to me!!!! lol

If your water is still brown ring 0800 783 4444. complain they will then give you a meter of water on your bill. I doubt if this will be enough so take a meter reading then when it clears take another reading. Use this to ask for a refund off your bill. Also ask for recompense for inconvenience for the fact that the water was brown. They will say it was OK to drink, ask them would they drink brown water the colour of brown ale?

yup, I came home to a sorry tale of brown towels and black bath water, missus was told by the water board a broken mains pipe,
seems OK now though, just keep running the taps till its clear.

Thankfully I'm not a water metered customer, so I left the outside tap on for hours until I saw it run clear again. Certainly wouldn't drink it myself... and as for "rust" as they say, then why could I smell clay??

The water has cleared considerably now, but I am still taking precautions of the Carling variety.

I worked with a chap who used to work for ST who had to deal with an irate metered customer wanting reimbursement for having to leave his tap running for a minute to clear it after works.

He sent the fellow a letter saying he could send him a cheque for the ~7p it would have cost him if he sent a SAE.

I once had a letter ( with a 19p stamp on ) from the Taxman asking me if I wanted them to send me a cheque for the 9p that they owed me....

It's a strange thing is administration. I remember paying £60 a week to Stafford Borough Council for my rent, via standing order. My rent was actually about £57 so I built up a HUGE credit with them (no doubt making them interest too). Eventually the rent went up to around £60.32 and my credit slowly started to fall. The instant my account showed that I owed them 48p or something daft, I left it (just for a giggle, as you do) to see what would happen. After a few more weeks I owed them over a pound and they threatened me with eviction.
P***er! :D

Spike Milligan once payed his rates a penny ( 1/240th of a pound in them days ) short in protest over a dispute that he had with the council - the letters went on for years....
