You know what, I regret ever joining this forum, I didn't realise there were so many nasty people on here.

Hold on Wendywu you were quite inflammatory when you started this thread and you should have expected a response. Banter is one thing, sayimg you hate something is another.

I must admit the black country accent is my least favourite. Lovely people but i think it just makes you sound a bit thick! Could you imagine david cameron talking like a yam yam or the queen. Even if you were talking about the working principles of the Large Hadron Collider you just couldnt sound intelligent with a high pitced yam yam accent.

Doesn't seem to have held Adrian Chiles back though.
To be fair local accents are few and far between in academic positions and the same in politics (whether that be a good or a bad thing is open to debate as I believe we should have more MPs that have actually lived the lives of the people they are supposed to represent)

I remember back in the 80's going to a pub outside the Bristol City ground (we were either brave or stupid!) and having banter with some locals. 'Youu lart don't arf talk funny' in a broad West Country accent still makes me giggle.

I wouldn't go back to Bristol & suggest that they have a West Country accent, Bristolians could get very upset by the suggestion.

Pick on the yellow belly.

Why pick on people from the Fens? :heyhey:

I do have problems with strong Glaswegian, Tynesides & Teesside accents which can be completely incomprehensible as far as I'm concerned. Dialect words & phrases can be a problem if they are very localised. Heh yar fa’r got a dickey, bor.

We aren't nasty. There's quite a broad spectrum of accents between us. You're the one that started a thread slating the way Brummies talk. What sort of reaction did you expect you'd get? A slap on the back and "oh jolly hockey sticks" and all that, and have everyone agreeing with you.
And not all Stafford hospitals are as bad as the County Hospital (DGH). St. Georges is a brilliant place to work, staff do care for all their patients, no matter what walk of life they come from.

Ok ok I give up. Your not going to forgive me for a stupid thread I started. I can't win. And to be truthful I'd rather go to a Staffordshire hospital than Lincoln county, any day.

Don't go Wenywu, There will always be some people that jump before thinking, Stafford forum is no different than the rest of the world.
Just ignore the ones that don't play nice, there's lots more of us to play with,

Hmm I'm getting a bit saucy now I'll shut up.

I had a consultation, in a corridor, at Lincoln hospital in November 1972. It was arranged that I would have an operation at some undefined point in the future. My card doesn't seem to have reached the top of the pile quite yet.....

Well at least they didn't close ranks, after, ignoring a serious situation, resulting in the death of your child.

Somehow i dont think SDGH is going to be the last to be made a spectacle of. Ive heard bits and bobs about another hospital that will be in deep doo doo in the near future.
