Is anyone using BT business broadband? If so, what do you think?
Have been using it since last year and finding it not so good, lose connection at least 3 or 4 times every day, sometimes for long periods of time. to be honest I'm not absolutely certain that it was set up correctly, but if it isn't wouldn't it just not work at all?

Probably not the fault of the broadband package that you're on - most likely a fault of some kind.

The only real difference between the majority of the broadband packages out there is the technical support that you receive - if you're having dropouts 3-4 times a day - then that'd be it!

Though - I hate to go back to basics here but, are all of the ADSL filters in place correctly? If one is missing, internet could drop out whenever the phone rings or whenever you use the PDQ machine.

Just a mad thought - would be happy to assist if necessary.

Mr JC set it up and he says they are all in place. It is a bit of a maze of wires as the phone line is in an awkward place. The internet doesnt drop out when phone rings or using PDQ machine - it just does it when it feels like it!

We've been using BT Business Broadband for the past couple of years, the connection has always been pretty solid, the only problem we have had is with the Business Hub packing up once (although it turned out to be the powersupply).

Never had a problem with BT business broadband. the only thing we encountered was the little print saying capping at certian points though out the day and night ¬¬ which is really annoying

we have used like about 300GB in a few days and once you reached a certian point they will stop capping you ¬¬ I rather go with Virgin Media, but we had a discount with BT

My friend has BT Business Broadband in her shop and when all the equipment arrived she asked me if I could go and set it up. All was fine until I attempted to use the installation CD which they sent out with the hub...it just wouldn't do what it said it would and kept on messing up. I wasn't going to bother with the CD and was just going to set it up through Windows, but she specifically asked me to do as BT instructed.

Anyway, I tried a few times and still wasn't able to get the bloody thing working. Eventually I decided to call the support line, and once I'd described the issues to the chap on the phone the first thing he said to me was "Oh, we never recommend using the installation CD which we send out with our kit...we're not even trained to support it!". He then suggested I uninstall everything and just go down the Windows route as I'd originally intended and it worked first time.

Since then she has experienced similar probs to you - slow, drops out frequently etc. I've not had any experience of BT Business Broadband other than this, but it doesn't seem to be great at all!

I haven't used the CD on my laptop - although I seem to remember Mr JC did. We moved the router yesterday and today we havent had a drop out at all - its still set up as before but is now higher and not stood in front of a load of sockets - why this should make a difference I dont know but it reminds me of the Peter Kay sketch where he holds his mobile in the air to get a better signal :)

I remember reading somewhere, years ago, that having the router within a meter of electrical sockets or can cause interruption to the service but never had a problem before - just thought I'd try moving the router further away and hey presto it seems to have worked (touch wood) :)

Are you still having problems with this? Keep a record of when you loose the internet, to see if the timings are the same. Does your "DSL" light go out or just the internet just stop?

If it's your DSL light going out, it wont matter which provider you with, you will still have the same issue, however the issue may be easier to resolve with a different provider than BT (less hoops to jump through).

Compared to good ISP like BE, BT broardband are pretty poor, especially at peak times. Won't even go into their customer service :)
