BT Infinity now truly infinite?

It appears so anyway, according to this. This makes their £26 package quite appealing, as you get 20mb upstream. Perfect for streaming stuff from home to my phone :D

Does this apply to new customers only or will they alter the t&c of existing contracts ?

Must admit, I've disagreed with traffic management since day dot. When VM's top speed was 10 meg I spent most of the day cut back to 2.5 meg. As far as I'm concerned they should only advertise (and sell) speeds that their network is capable of providing to all of their customers at once.
It's like Mr Sizzle still charging full price but only giving you half a hot dog while the que's big to make sure there's enough to go around... it's bloody ridiculous!!

So  thumbs up  to BT for this one and I hope that VM soon follow suit

Of course, we've yet to see how it actually proves to stand up!!

According some one of my colleagues in the local willages around Stafford , BT Infinity has yet to reach them there and there is no date for the service, so Stafford town appears connected but not Stafford Borough

I dont think VM has traffic management on there 100 mb service, the only trouble is there lousy up stream capped at 10 mb.

I'm on 60Mb down and only get 3 up, hence wanting to switch.
I must admit i do a lot of uploading of clients websites but luckily 10 mb does fine for that and changing internet providers i have always found scary especially if for the most part you are happy with what you have, my internet is very stable now and has been for some time and that is all i require to stay were i am, for now .

This is very true.

In Bednall we are 0.9.

Something like 3 would seem like amazing progress for us.

If you want to run a business from home, as more and more do, it does seem rural life is restricting enterprise in a harmful way, which does seem backwards when you compare rural France where I know people have three figure speeds

Virgin have confirmed I wont get a speed increase until the end of the year, the top tier accounts get 10:1 speeds but all others stick with 20:1 until then. Bummer.

Until tomorrow topcashback are offering £202 cashback for installing BT infinity plus a landline and buying a cheapish handset, that may be what I needed to push me away from VM for the first time since they were comtel.

Bugger, I just remembered the VM guy pulled the tv aerial out of the wall when fitting the TV. Guess I may need to do a bit of wiring when I get home!

Anyone know if the BT installation guy lets you choose where to put the master socket? I do have one in my hallway, its completely impractical to get from there to my TV. If they want to use that I wont go for it, I don't want wires trailing all over the place.

EDIT: Oh yeah, BT now throwing in a £100 sainsburys voucher too. Still not sure its worth the hassle though!

Absolute fecksticks, turns out the Virgin contract was 18 months not 12. Not impressed, switching to a youview box was very appealing and the £300 cashback really capped it off!

Can't believe I spent 2 hours today ensuring I could get BT installed as I wished then find out I can't leave VM anyway :(
