Bunch of Clowns!

I see the clowns at Staffordshire County Council are at it again!

As from 1st November 2016 we are going to be charged to take some stuff to the tip, £3/bag for soil & rubble, £4/bag for plasterboard and £4 per tyre.

All this will do is encourage more people to fly tip their rubbish which will cost more to clear up than they take at the tip!

Its pretty widereaching.

They probably need the money to give the CEO a well-deserved raise. It must be a struggle to survive on a third of a million quid a year.

I'm surprised the council has been taking construction waste for free up to now to be honest.

It's started already :(. Noticed a whole load of builders/construction waste in the alley that goes from the Stone Road, immediately prior to where Crispins used to be, through to Woodlands Road by the garages.

There were a load of tricky-to-enforce rules that it had to be from DIY & couldn't be from commercial work, couldn't exceed two trips a day or x trips a week & couldn't arrive in a van, which I'm sure many builders managed to get round & many homeowners fell foul of.

We've dropped stuff off from a house clearance in a van a couple of times and never been challenged.

When I have visited the tip with household waste in a sign written van, I have been asked what I am disposing off.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick re vans, but a friend of mine who undertook a major house renovation a few years back was pulled up by the staff because they thought he might be running a building operation. I'm sure they must have a measure of discretion if you turn up in a plumber's van but are only getting rid of an old armchair.
