Burton on Trent

New Mover

Newbie
Shortly moving here with work, don't know anything about the area, what are the best areas to live in and what areas should I avoid. I am a quiet 30 something single male. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dude, i've never been to Burton in my life.

I've been to Antananarivo, Unawatuna, Tingo, and Gnosall, but not Burton.

Burton upon Menswear i have been to, but it's been a phone shop for ages now.

Burton nick is a fortified place where 'important people' will be taken in the event of a civil war or kerfuffle

This would include the local MP who sent 2,000 perverse text messages to a barmaid

Abbotts Bromley is ok ish if you like sailing

Really?

Burton has some great places to live. If you are looking at Central Burton I would look elsewhere. Branston area close to the A38 is fine, but the closer you get into Town the worse it gets. Then you actually have a split not unlike London in that the area is split by the Trent and you could be found "on the wrong side of the river". On the one side you have Stapenhill which is not too bad. If you can afford it the houses on Ashby Road are very nice- so big that most were converted to Nursing Homes. On the "Burton" side of the bridge you will need to travel to the top end of Horninglow to get to s decent part of the town. Rolleston Road and Rolleston itself is very nice and has always been sought after. Tutbury used to be really rough but has now become quite nice and it leads to Hatton which is also quite nice but you are now getting a bit far out as you are in Derbyshire. Stretton now has hundreds of houses on a massive estate but it's not too bad at all.
