Camping and caravanning

This one. I'll have a word with the OH and let you know a price. We need to take it away with us next week as we have yet to pitch the brand new tent, so need it as a back up just in case, but should be available once we're back.

Iv been looking to buy an electrical hook up , but have been advised by various campsites that it must be at least 25 metres long?! I'm struggling to find 1. Can I not just buy the adaptor and run a 25 meter extension from it?

I saw Tesco have 4 person tents for £60, 6 person for £85 and 2 person for £40 or thereabouts.

Also loads of reasonably priced camping kit sleeping bags, pans, beda, etc.

Not too sure about the quality but it will probably do for a taster to see how you get on.

Thanks so much you lovely lot!

Tent sorted thanks to a lovely forum member!

Also I’ve been overwhelmed with two very generous people offering to lend me theirs, it’s lovely that people are so kind they would let a stranger use their equipment on trust, with no agenda, to put themselves out like that just to help someone out. It’s brilliant! I haven’t tagged you guys in case you didn’t want me to but you know who you are!

Thanks again, you are amazing!!!

Really? I've never been asked that and we've stayed in camping and caravanning club sites and independent sites. Our hook up is similar to this

And at 15m should be more than sufficient. I would question with the site why it needs to be so long..... By the way that price is very good for a hook up unit !!

Can anyone recommend a company for installing a towbar? We have a rigid but our car Ford Bmax doesn't have much in the way of roofbar options so I'm thinking of getting a small trailer for camping trips.

As far as I remember based on the 16th edition IEE regs the maximum length is 20m and it needs to be 2.5mm CSA. I don't think it states a minimum distance but you do need to use the blue connectors not plugs.

I'll try to dig out my copy of the 17th edition and see what that says but it may take me a while to find it.

We seem to have brought half the house with us and still forgotten things. A good knife if you are intending to cut at all.

When you return, make some piles from what you took, and didn't take.

What you didn't really need - What you really did need - 'Emergency' stuff that you might genuinely need on occasion - Stuff you would have used if you had taken it - Stuff that really was just in the way - etc...

Do this repeatedly as your style of camping evolves.

I would add to that by saying
Work out what you think you'll need to wear and then only take essential items. Most sites have washing machines available and you probably will only wear half of what you take.

Work how you think you'll be eating. If you're planning to eat out a lot you probably won't need a lot of cooking things or food storage.

Also if it's hot you'll probably eat less.

Pack your washbag as if you taking a flight i.e. small bottles. It's unlikely you'll get through normal sized bottles.

Other essentials I take are good quality air bed and sleeping bags, Avon skin so soft, citronella candles, cool bags and ice packs, kettle, stove, wind breaker (gives you a little extra space and privacy), folding chairs, table, beer, beer and more beer.
