car thieves

I know how you feel, I had a car broken into years ago and they took the radio, a customised zippo that was an 18th birthday present and a few other bits.

Took me and two mates 4 hours scouring a scrap yard to find a replacement window (car was 20 years old at the time).

Its no secret that I'm pro the death penalty. I'm not sure society really needs this scum, they always always always reoffend so if caught why don't we just put them down?

Had my brand new car stolen from a hotel car park a few years ago. I had never sat in the back, used the wipers or opened the windows. It was brand spanking new. I had parked under the light on the car park, locked it up and booked in for the night. Just before I went to bed I thought I would wish my new car goodnight so looked through the curtains to see an empty space. Someone had managed to gain entry to our room while we were at the function and helped themselves to the keys and my purse. The purse contained one of my few photos of my baby daughter who we had lost just a few months earlier. Devastated. Hate thieves, swore I would return with a baseball bat and hold a stake out waiting for them to reappear. Husband advised against it. Police thought it was an inside job. . No ctv available that night. Still makes my blood boil. Hope they catch the Bawich thieves soon!

Hi Peggy, sorry about your photos, my parents lost a baby 50 years ago and the photos were stolen not long afterwards when they left their car parked on the Chase with my mum's handbag on the seat. I don't think people were as cautious in those days.
I've never seen any photos of my brother so I think those must have been the only ones they had.

One of our cars is so old that it still uses an old-fashioned steering wheel crook lock. No-one has ever tried to steal it. When we take it out, we normally park it next to the nearest expensive-looking car so thieves will target that instead. My husband says that the car is its own anti-theft device. However, I think I'll be getting more crook locks for the other vehicles. If thieves are concentrating on technology nowadays they are less likely to be carrying a hacksaw.

Other vehicles? How many do you need?
I had five at one point, plus the other half's car. We have three at present though, which seems much more sensible.

That said, I'm really struggling to resist the temptation to buy another MX5 while they're so cheap.

We have one car at the moment. We got rid of our second car to save a bit of money while I was on maternity leave. It's old but it's ours and it's been well looked after. But then it doesn't matter if it's a Bentley or a heap of 1990s scrap metal, it's ours.
As someone has commented above, they might come back in a few months thinking we've become complacent again. I've a good mind to fill an old laptop bag with the biggest smelliest dog eggs I can find and leave them to find that.

My daughter told me this story she heard, it's probably an urban myth but I hope it's true ...

A lady's dog had died. It was a large dog and she had nowhere to bury it, so she arranged with the vet to have it cremated. She had to get to the vet's by tube. She put the body into a large bag because she didn't want people staring at her dead dog on the tube. As she was struggling to lift the heavy bag onto the tube, a man came to help her. He said "This is heavy, what's in it?" and she was too embarrassed to say "a dead dog" so she said "laptops", at which the man ran off with the bag ...

Aye, I really enjoyed my mx5 for a bit of roof down, b road blasting, henrys cat offending good old fashioned fun.

The problem I have now is that I have an old M3 and its more demanding of my wallet than even HMRC. Thus, justifying another toy is quite difficult.

Going off topic a bit but my old Mx is kept in garage but my Audi is on drive won't fit in garage hence she got done over. Love the E series M3 to bits but wallet gets to intimate with her I bet....

They WILL come back. Its happened at least twice to the same vans around the stone. They must keep a mental note of where the vehicles theyve done were and strike again 6 months down the line. A bloke at my company lost thousands of pounds worth of tools, replaced them and had them nicked again. We were told it was gypsies as the tools get sold round the pubs by them. to be honest the police dont do anything about it, just give you a crime number and thats the end of it.
