Cast iron radiators

Now that I’ve found somewhere I want to buy I’m thinking about what I want to do with it and part of that involves fitting an old, really inefficient, cast iron radiator. Does anyone know where I might find one local to Stafford/know of a recently closed school/Victorian type building that’s likely to be getting emptied?

The chances of finding what you want secondhand may be slim, if there's a short timescale.

There's nothing inefficient about them, any heat that doesn't come out doesn't have to be put back in.

we bought ours from Carwarden reclaim in Rugeley, it was pressure tested and primed and came with fixings.
but it was a while ago.. so not sure if they still do them, maybe only reproduction.

Good point, I might have to bare this in mind.

There's no rush to sort anything, the house I'm buying is in a fantastic condition, its just me planning on putting my mark on it.

I ex work colleague of mine used to own one of the old Minton cottages on Hartshill Road in Stoke and they had said Cast Iron radiators when he was doing the house up. Got them shot blast to strip them down and then painted them in Hammerite and put in new brass fittings. They came up great. I helped move them in and out of the house, so fecking heavy !!

Id go along with the comment about the pressure testing and get it guarantee or else you're just paying for a lump of useless metal in your new abode !
