Changes at the Guildhall.

This rumour is true, Gym where JJB was and a food court downstairs.

I wonder how this will work then, I thought the shops in the guildhall couldn't open in the evening as security are pretty strict at locking up on time and fines are issued if they are late doing so I've been told.

I've heard this too. Maybe the Guildhall is being reinvented with no shops at all and will have different security? Who knows?

The idea of a gym is interesting - I can see that working. I suppose a different company or a different contract - you get quite a lot of 24hr gyms that have little or no security. With increased town centre living that could be a great addition to the town.

Not so sure on the food court - not that I'm against more places to eat, I just can't see it in my head...

Don't gyms need special floors? Still, a minor concern for a town so overflowing with cash.

Dance and studio spaces do but on the basis they turned the empty car show room at the bottom of my mothers apartment in Barcelona into one in about a week I'm guessing not if you're just planning on putting machines etc in.

So sad walking through the Guildhall today in what's normally a peak retail time of year with all the students milling about, walking through an empty shell of a building with most shops in there now informing customers and passers by of their closure dates and directing people to Hanley or online !

Another thing that bugs me is why not only did they get rid of the lottery desk, but proceeded to pull it down too, bit final if you ask me, someone could have retook it over.

Dunno what the management team are up to tbh !

N with the Guildhall in such a terrible way atm, do you think they'll still go ahead with the Christmas light sponsorship ?

I heard it was gonna be a desert simulation centre complete with tumbleweeds. A lifeless baron wasteland where you can experience what it feels like to be in the middle of nowhere with nobody for miles.....wait a minute.....

that far end, I use the guildhall purely to cut through from near the hogs, but that far end is decimated, there is only poundland and the perfume shop, oh and store 21 remaining open, what are the reasons? Is it the rents? the rates?

I walked through the guild hall ystday and it is a sorry sight struggling shops and shops closing I cannot see the sense in building more shops around the outside of Stafford town if the ones in the middle are failing.

What’s happened to pottering around the shops on a sat aftn? It seems that we all want to drive to a store get what we need and get home. I still love pottering be it in the shops or the garden. Pottering is a dying art in this fast passed life.

I potter on my lunch breaks, can't stand town on a Saturday and rarely venture further than Lidl (via the greyhound).
