For yourself Ricki?

If you need chook keeping advice give me a shout - I've been keeping and selling them for several years now.

Can't beat the eggs! Well, actually you can if making a cake.

Or an omelette!

Or scrambled eggs

Or....

It is very similar to this one:-

You can choose any two chickens out of the fifteen we have at the moment.

I supply the chickens at Point of Lay, around 16 - 19 weeks old. If they aren't laying at that time they're usually not too far off starting.

Depending on what you want, the price is either £12 or £14, but if having a few I knock a couple of quid off.
You can see the breeds I sell at www.chirpychickens.co.uk on the "Hens For Sale" page.

I no longer sell coups as I couldn't source them at the right price - well, I did FIND a supplier who was knocking them up, but lets just say they weren't very assembly friendly! There are some reasonable ones on eBay for around the £100 mark brand new though, not including enclosed run. I personally prefer to give mine their own section of the garden where they are free to range all day.

My site states that i'm not operational again until Spring 2012, but if you wanted any chooks before that I could do my best to accomodate your requirements.

Not a bad buy for someone at 50 quid. How old are the included chooks though?

There you go Ricki - ask nicely for a couple of 1 year old hens and you'll have grabbed yourself a bargain!

My sister in law lost all her chickens to a fox attack last year. Not a pleasant job disposing of 10 dead birds

I bet it was a delicious job for the fox though.

I must be lucky. Mine are free ranging from 7am till it goes dark and I dont remember to shut the coop some nights - I've never lost a single one.

My brother keeps chickens. He had 4, one died from a "blocked egg chute", replaced with 2 more, both eaten by a fox when he was on holiday. He then replaced with 10 eggs, only 3 hatched (2 cocks, 1 hen). then the original 3 hens were got by a fox on his next holiday :( He's not had excellent luck! I think once the fox knows where they are they will keep coming back.

I would like them but the other half is dead against it. I also know we get foxes round the back of ours so it probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Better known as being "egg bound". And yes, it's deadly! Spotted early it's sorted out simply enough with a bit of olive oil - I won't go into any more detail than that ;)
I've dealt with it successfully on 3 of my girls before, but thankfully never had a death. Someone I knew had one die of it though, and upon examination was found to have about a dozen eggs stuck... poor thing.

Don't let just that fact put you off - in the kind of housing being sold above they'd be reasonably safe...
