Chico's in Stone

If you're partial to Mexican food get yourself over there, it's situated behind the Crown hotel and they've made a real good job with the decor both inside and outside the eatery. The portions are massive and very tasty. It's pretty small and can seat around 30 top's which created a nice atmosphere.

Two bottles of wine, 6 main courses and 6 coffee's (4 of which were liquor coffee's) 85 of your hard earned, which, with the tip worked out at £15 per head, can't argue with that.

with regard to texmex, tequila red scored 1 out of 10 what might your rating be for chicos?.....

Can't say I ever ate in Tequila Red, but I'd give Chico's a healthy 7 out of 10. Points deducted for the fact that they don't have draught beer (only expensive bottles with a slice of lime in) and the fact that although the table was booked for 9 we didn't sit down until 9:45.

I believe that it's not long opened and if they want a little advice from me I would say that if they want to have two sittings i.e. 7pm and 9pm, they should politely put the point over that if you book a 7pm sitting you must vacate your table by 8:50, the poor waitresses looked a little flustered when the 9pm sitting (including us) entered and the 7pm lot were hanging on pushing empty coffee cups around, as I said above it's only a small eaterie.

A couple of nice touches were the bar stools which were saddles with legs and the video screen (I know, sounds a bit tacky but it wasn't) which had a selection of Mexican bands in concert but wasn't too noisey. The tables are rather unique as well.

I will return.

If the agreement is you vacate your table from a 7.00pm sitting at precisely 8.50pm, do they agree to serve your courses by an agreed time also?

Indeed. I don't like to be rushed while eating, this would probably put me off the early sitting immediately.

Ate here for the first time last night. Starters were huge. I had the crab cakes and Mrs King had the nachos which I had to help her finish. The Paella for 2 could easily have fed 4 people which isn't bad for £23 and includes chorizo, chicken, prawns, squid and mussels. Ended the night with a visit to the Swan.

Question is did you try the bar stools (saddles) out for size and comfort?
