Hi all.... i moved to stafford a couple of months ago and whilst I have managed to find a chippy and an indian takeaway quite near to me, i can't seem to find a chinese...... any recommendations?

btw. It's not like I eat takeout all the time........ just like a decent indian or chinese now and then ;)

Oriental Kitchen, Newport Road. Opposite Friar's Terrace where you can park on the roadside for free.

That's my recommendation although not everybody will agree. See this thread for more advice from other people.

As Wormella has asked, it does depend on where you live of course. Oriental Kitchen is easy to drive to but if you want to walk it's not close to many houses!

Ah... ooops. Sorry, should have said.. live near the meadows estate, near the retail parks. I've been reading this forum as a guest for a while, mainly when we were looking to move to stafford, it's great for bits & bobs of info....
I did search for threads and saw the above mentioned thread but it didn't really say where any of them were.. at least not for someone who's just about got where the town centre is figured !

So...Oriental kitchen is Newport Rd.. that's the one with Tesco, yes?

Where is tiger bowl?

Thanks

You're in a bit of a take-away desert there, I would say, but I'm not the best judge of these things. See what other responses you get.

Tiger Bowl is up by the Waggon and Horses, I believe, at the start of the Stone Road, by Bristol Street Motors. Not really walkable for your base..

Yes, Newport Road is where the entrance to Tesco is.

Cheers... I don't mind driving as long as there's ok parking. Just seems to be that I keep finding Indian's everywhere, but can't spot the Chineses.

Is that a Moomin?
Hubbyrat used to live in the meadows estate and he swears by Good View up by the telegraph, ofc he had a car altogether differnet proposition if you are walking

I presume that Mr X meant this - as above....
Thanks Gramaisc! That's what happens when you aren't using a computer to post and don't check the post afterwards!

Now edited.
No problem - glad to be of service - easily done - that's why half my posts are edited about a minute after I post them - somehow I just can't see what I've actually typed until I've pressed 'Submit'...

I did it then! I actually typed 'tactually yped' - Why?...

Essence of the Orient - next door to Sainsbury - is pretty good. Park in the Sainsbury car park and walk through. They deliver as well! Very authentic - I lived in Hong Kong for a while so should know good Chinese food when I eat it. And my wife is Chinese and likes the food there.
Tiger Bowl (as mentioned before) is pretty good ... few different things on the menu. Do remember if you go to Tiger Bowl to collect they do not accept bank cards ... cash only!!

There seems to be a place called Marble House in Sidney Avenue, phone 229888 - that's down Silkmore Lane, past the Co-op and then second right. I know nothing about it, even whether it still exists or not. Might be worth investigating, though.

I genuinely have no idea what the one near my house is called but its superb, really good food and great service, keely priced. It's at the junction between tixall road and western road, opposite the co-op/chippy/post office. Right next to the metropolitan bar too.

.. as in cider? I can find no reference to a Chinese on Weston or Tixall Road - must go and have a look - the only thing that comes up is the chip shop..
