Chiropodist wanted

Chiro is Greek for hand so chiropodist is hand on foot. Podiatrist is a universally recognised title for our profession . Chiropodist is a mainly British title to my knowledge.

So in essence the same thing. However generally it is recognised that podiatrists tend to have an in depth greater knowledge of foot related disorders and Chiropodists like myself tend to generalise and treat general wear and tear problems.

So in essence we are all both titles as long as you are on the HCPC government register. If you are not on this register it is illegal to promote yourself as either of these professional titles hence you will see people treating feet who use titles like Foot Healthcare Professionals or the like. They are generally un regulated within the the profession and they practice without government regulation or in some cases offer no safeguards for the unwary patient. To become an HCPC registered practitioner you have to provide evidence of your training and your qualifications, degrees only.

Hope this helps.....

I looked on here for a chiropodist someone could recommend. So had to go blind and choose Peach Chiropodist on Mill Lane.

I was clipped and buffed, all the dead skin removed and then she strapped my feet to provide support for my arches, which was causing the problem.

Plenty of good advice and exercises to stop the problems.

I was treated for 45 mins and the cost £30, well worth the money, like the dentist, i plan to get treated every 6 months

@Swaggy I'm considering this very thing for my unruly diabetic tootsies, can you tell me if they carry out any kind of nail filing or shaping as well as the clipping? Many thanks. :)

I should shift my bum and go get my toenails sorted. I've had ingrowing nails for more years than I'll admit to, always sort them out myself. I think it's about time sumat permanent was done.

If you are thinking of doing it because you have bad feet, go ahead and book yourself an appointment, you won't regret it
