Christmas 2018

What are you lovely lot up to for Christmas?

I'm so disorganised this year, everything from July to now is a bit of a blur, I don't know where the time has gone.

New job hasn't helped with no accrued holiday and saving what I can for the Christmas week itself. First weekday at home for 3 months today!

Christmas shopping still isn't finished, wrapping has barely begun and my house looks like world war three has happened here. Other than that it's all good.

Plans for us are the same as usual, 17 this time for Christmas dinner, we've had the pre Christmas gathering already, so that was a mad dash to arrange the first wave of presents and cards and get them distributed. We managed to squeeze 21 around the dining table(s) so it should seem quite spacious for the main event!

The kids have had a visit to the cinema to see The Nutcracker and a couple of Santa visits but we've done very little so far in terms of Christmas activities, tree was up first week in November but the paper chains I bought in October are at the bottom of a drawer somewhere with grand plans to get them assembled and put up by next Christmas.

Most of the presents have been purchased, wrapped and distributed last weekend, kids are pretty much all purchased but both sets of parents are difficult to buy for and we've still got those to get, as well as wrapping most of the kids bits and assembling three scooters.

I've managed to get the bulk of the Christmas food shop done this morning but between the procrastinating with stuff like this I've achieved very little else, despite having a list as long as my arm to get done today, I think I need a fairy godmother, or a team of 10 cleaners, cooks and child-minders to pull Christmas together in time.

Please tell me I'm not the only one????

You don't sound disorganised in the slightest. I still have to buy quite a few presents. I break up from work on Monday afternoon and am back in on Thursday..

Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Decorations, lights and trees went up on the 1st December as has always been our tradition. (And stay up until 6th Jan)

Apart from hubbys work mate who has already got her present off us, I've only got hubby and son to buy for this year.

Xmas pressies all bought and wrapped up but got sons birthday the week after xmas. Bought them as well , soooo organised this year :D

Only me , hubby and son left now to celebrate christmas day together at home , so haven't got that much to do .

Sons coming home after his very late shift on xmas eve so might just about beat :santa: by the time he gets back from Worcester. Only got him here for xmas day as he'll be heading back down the motorway at the crack of dawn on Boxing day for his early shift. So not much food to buy, just a bit of fresh stuff closer to the day. All the frozen xmas nibbles already hidden in the bottom of the freezer to stop hubby eating it all before the day...

Just me and hubby at home on boxing day.

Then off to Worcester over Twixmas. Got Panto tickets for me and hubby, haven't been to the theatre or a Panto for years .

Had several stock-ups of 'christmas 'cider in the past month or so, the rate it's going down I forecast yet another trip to re-stock...

Brings back memories of my childhood days, when my parents house had paper chains strung around the ceiling. Started off us kids making the loops out of newspaper , then when my parents weren't so skint we progressed to bought coloured sticky strips which we spent hours making into chains :)

I’m getting there, just left work for almost 2 weeks off!

Presents have all been purchased, budget and spreadsheet has gone out the window as we’ve got closer to the big day but never mind. Kids stockings wrapped and Xmas eve pjs sorted. Only one more lot for distribution and probably a couple more hours or wrapping, hubby is in charge of assembling the scooters so that will probably be done at 1am on Christmas morning.

I’ve got half of my daughters class round after school so they can trash the place while all the mums have a glass or 7 of wine! The weekend will be mostly spent cleaning and organising.

I’m starting to believe I’ll get it all done.

I am 100% ready for change ! My last present arrived today and my Christmas dinner was delivered yesterday ( no substitutes) courtesy of Tesco ! Now I just have to keep the kids away from the Xmas food till Tuesday

Enjoying a drop of red.
Finished yesterday afternoon until 7 Jan. Office party tonight and, hangover dependent, some Xmas shopping tomorrow, followed by two weeks of nothing except eating, drinking and long walks/biking on the Chase.

Just made a donation to the Midlands air ambulance in lieu of buying Christmas cards for friends or colleagues.

So if anyone is expecting a card (except immediate family) this year it will be flying over you helping injured patients sometime soon.

I thought I was organised getting all the booze and most of the food in....had to go out and re-stock again today as last night hubby decided to polish off the booze I bought specially for son for xmas day rather than his own stash. This was accompanied by lots of the 'special xmas food'.

No doubt I'll be re-stocking again on Monday morning

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Food shopped on Friday, finished buying presents yesterday, wrapping of said presents done, delivery will take place today, working on a last minute job for a client this morning so I don't have to work tomorrow.

Christmas Day at home with wife, son and daughter-in-law-to-be, then out out to Saracen's Head on Boxing Day for a meal. Besides that, I won't be doing anything unless a client gets in touch.
