Hi Clothesland! And welcome to the forum!

I popped in yesterday and you've got a great mix of clothes and a really amazing space!

I just wanted to say Jade Clothing could make an amazing impact in your shop, I think it looks a little bit like a jumble sale at the mo, it needs a professional touch and she would be just perfect for it!!!

I have sold to Jade many times and she has advised me on selling techniques and the best way to market certain products, all which have been very successful!

And if you don't employ her I will start a protest!!!

I agree - and having supported Katharine house as Jade - I think it's great if a local business can support a local charity.

I just remembered something else I wanted to mention as a couple of people have said the shop looks a bit like a jumble sale. I'm sure you're all aware of subliminal tricks of the trade shops use to try and get customers to buy more - like supermarkets putting the bread and milk at the back so people make impulse purchases on the way through or pricing something at £4.99 - which to all intents and purposes is a fiver but psychologically 'sounds' cheaper. Well did you know that some shops deliberately mess up the displays to make customers think they are getting a bargain? I think it's called the jumble sale mentality or something like that. Shoppers are sometimes wary of messing up pristine displays to have a rummage. Sticking a load of clothing (or anything for that matter - take car boot sales for example) makes a customer think they are getting a bargain. Jade was a perfect example of why this works - but in reverse. I'm sure a lot of you know I went out of my way to make the shop look like a classy boutique even though we were selling second hand clothing to try and convert people who wouldn't normally touch second hand items to see that if they changed their perspective on how they viewed them they might be tempted to make a purchase. We had quite a bit of feedback from people who said they had never been in because it looked like a high class expensive boutique. The thing is you can't please everyone - so while a lot of people love a good rummage others will be put off by it - it's all about finding the balance. Incidentally I did a survey last week for another business in town and my findings prove that the budget shops are the way to go - there are still plenty of people shopping in Stafford town - they are just being selective about where they spend their cash.

Mandy & Jake were in all day on Sunday just sorting out stock so a big round of applause for them! (if you can get clapping on a forum)
Its also necessary to mention; Crystal, Katie & Vicky the shop has been a huge team effort and everyone involved have worked really hard !

I've even gotten up early to help out our shop staff with new stock that has come in ready for today..... We've decided to improve the quality of our stock!!!!!!!!!! ;)
Good, when i went in it just looked like a big charity shop with some very old clothes for sale

To be fair - due to the nature of this type of business it's difficult to get a tidy uniform look. It's never going to look like Dorothy Perkins because most of the items are one offs. It's easy to make a shop look pristine if you have a full range of sizes in each item.
If you look on the left hand side of the shop though where the Boutique 128 items are it does look good. At the end of the day though the items on the right are £1 each!! Customers are getting a bargain and the fact that they had thousands through the door during the first week proves that this is what people want.

I went again last week but still didn't find anything, found a few nice things but not in my size, lots of things were beyond my level of repair too, so make sure you check the garments over properly before buying!

Hi Clothesland (or anyone else who has been in recently) - do you guys sort clothes by size now or use hangars that show the sizes? If so then I may just pop back in for a look sometime.
