The Co-op own that building. It will be interesting to see what happens - if anything.

I only noticed last week that the night-safe is still there from when the Bank was upstairs.

Hopefully they'll want people in rather than an empty unit, but what to put there? I suppose an Afflek's Palace style place would work?

EDIT: It was an indoor market type place in a large multi storey shop in Manchester in the 90s. There is something similar in Birmingham but I can't remember what its called!

The Oasis is the Brum version - Affleck's palace is still there and thriving in Manchester. the Liverpool version is Quiggins - doing well last time I checked.

I'm not sure Stafford would work all that well for it though.

It'll remain empty untill things pick up then they may decide to sell to a developer or they might redevelop the site and keep there presents in town with another food only store.

Just Found out that the Co-op is closing down as well now,

Dam! :( I go in the co-op electrical part a lot and got sons TV & Laptop from there. They were the only place not to try pushing the more expensive stuff instead.
Just discovered they had started selling some decent youths clothing as well and told son to look in there first in future! Better go and get him kitted out before it goes.
Must admit though that there's never been many people about each time I've gone in.

I assume the Travel Agents will go then as well.

That sort of size building has gone Primark written all over it.

I agree, but do Primark want to go in an area that is rapidly declining and with a new focal centre appearing to the town further away? They may however have enough clout to rejuvenate the area a bit, and will certainly give the supermarkets a run for their money in the clothing stakes.

Do they have still another travel agency somewhere about opposite Starbucks?

If so, then probably...

Yes, was only thinking the other day walking past it that they must all be doing well if we still have 2 Thomas Cooks and 2 Co-op Travel,as well as us having a Thomsons in town. Weren't they talking about closing some of them ages ago when one took over the other (can't remember which way around - or did they just merge?)
