Yes we’ve been before, it’s great fun, such a buzzing atmosphere.

Have you ordered your fringe brochure yet?
We have a plan old action before we go, working out who we want to see, at what time and factoring in enough time to get from one venue to another. We leave a few gaps for any ad hoc shows.
If you want to see any of the big names then you’ll probably have to buy your tickets before you go, although we now tend to not see anyone that we can see at home, we try and see new acts.

My son is a comedian (have I mentioned that before? ;)) , in 2015 he did his first show at The Fringe, in a two hander with another comedian. In 2016 he did his first solo show which got great reviews.
He goes up for the whole month as do most of the comedians.

You’ll really enjoy it. How long are you going for?

Haven't got my fringe brochure yet no, i'll get a plan sorted soon enough. I've only got my digs booked.
Sounds like you're on the ball Carole. True enough about the big names, i was going to take it by 'ear and see whoever takes my fancy when i'm there. I'm sure it won't be the last time i'll be going, so what i learn this time round, i'll take into the next visit.

I'll look out for a Carole Jr, or does he go by a different name?

His name is Alex Hylton, there was an article about him in this weeks Stafford Newsletter, page 14.

This was a review of his show called “I came, I saw, I complained”, scroll down to Alex Hylton, it’s about half way down.

Another review of the same show

And you can book tickets for his new show for Edinburgh here which is called “Everyone's different and I’m the same”

Russell Kane twice, both times at the Gatehouse.
    Great comedian.

Tom Stade at the Gatehouse, gave a master class in how to have an audience in the palm of your hand, whilst shouting (in a controlled manner) in an Canadian accent.

Briefly mentioned it but this guy has that much confidence and material, i doubt he ever needs to go over old ground.

    Bilston Market though, funny!

Whilst this is the least full i've seen the Gatehouse, it was one of the most rapturous.
That could have been the white elephant in the room, but he went over to that white elephant and shook it by the hand (foot!), then told it to buck-off.

I saw a Jayne (Somebody)* at one of the Juice Comedy Monday Nights in No 15 - she did a routine where she portrayed the mannerisms of a dog-agility trainer, but without a dog - it was a danger to those with any form of respiratory disorder.

And those who were there for the time when Rich Wall got people chanting "White Power!" are unlikely to forget it.

    Edit - * Jayne Edwards - remembered....

    Holy shit, the no.15 gigs

The chap who did that routine as a faux Driving Instructor - was anybody else there for that?

A member of the audience slipped on the 'banana skin' of one of his laminated 'props' that he casually discarded with a frisbee flip?

It was brilliant in its awfulness.

We saw Michael McIntyre last night in Birmingham. We had good seats, Block A, 10 rows back.
    He was excellent, very funny.

I feared Michael McIntyre was going to go the same way as John Bishop, that of suffering from cheesy shows and over exposure.
    Glad he's still go it!

We’ve just come back from the most brilliant night out at The Gatehouse.

Nearly didn’t go because we’ve been full on busy today and husband thought that we’d give it a miss. In the end we rushed to get washed and changed and headed quickly into town.

Husband just said that it was the funniest show and he was so glad that we went. At times my stomach muscles were aching from laughing so much.

He’s on again tomorrow night but I think only a few seats left.

It was David Baddiel and the show was about his dysfunctional family.

    Go see, I thoroughly recommend.

Recommendation; Anthony Jeselnik - Thoughts and Prayers (Netflix)

I had seen this a while ago and awaiting Chris Rock to hit the stage in Manchester (a few months ago now), who should be one of the support acts, only the great Anthony Jeselnik himself, i was beside myself and oh boy what a comedian!

All i need him to do now is perhaps go a little more political and deep, and i could have a replacement for my all time favourite comedian - George Carlin.

I know two that are going/did go, they said he was good.
I'd seen him the last time he'd done a warm-up, that time in The Met.

    Enjoy ya 'shift' tonight!
