My son, Alex Hylton, performed to his biggest audience so far on Friday night at The De Montfort Hall in Leicester.

He was only on for 10 minutes as part of a show with 10 other comedians doing 10 minutes each to showcase their act for the upcoming Leicester Comedy Festival.

He went down well with the audience and got an excellent review from Leicestershire live.

I’m thrilled to bits for him.

Going to those, so see you there.
As for the Bill Burr tickets, your son is one lucky lad! If by any chance he/they can't go, can i be the first in line to take them off your hands?

I’ve heard that Jimmy Carr has changed the date of his show at The Gatehouse due to TV commitments and they are in the process of contacting everyone who has bought tickets.
I think he’s now on the 18 th instead.

So if anyone missed out on tickets there is a chance now that someone who bought tickets for the first date, might not be able to make the new date, therefore some tickets may become available (if you’re quick!)

Edited to say, having said the above, I actually can’t see him on the Gatehouse website at all now.

How would this work though, does the Gatehouse create a waiting list (if you know)?

    There is a waiting list.
As soon as they’ve contacted people from the first date, if they can’t make the new date then they ring someone on the waiting list.

If they get no reply, they keep going down the waiting list until someone answers and confirms.

Thanks for finding out, not just for me i'm sure but worth knowing for those who had initially missed out on tickets, for whichever show.

I'll email in! See what happens.

Missed tickets for the met again in February, they seem to sell out earlier each month. Booked March though.

It’s not usual to announce in advance who is performing. Part of the attraction of the night is the “lucky dip” aspect of you don’t know what’s coming next.

However, on occasion, if you go on to The Gatehouse Twitter feed on the day, they sometimes might mention who might be appearing that night.

I’ve been helping out at The Leicester Comedy Festival this week.
My son is putting on over 90 shows in 3 venues over 3 weeks as part of the festival.

(He’s not performing in all of the shows he books other comedians).

It’s great fun, I’ve seen some good stuff.

Well, OK, i went to see RCB on Friday and oh dear, the jokes and the act hasn't aged well.

I saw him about 10 years ago in Wolverhampton and thought it was OK but now, not so much.
What i remembered from my youth is him being funny, but oh boy, now not so much(!), just showed me that most of us grow up and move with the times and if you don't then be prepared to be all gammon about stuff.

I would have loved to have seen this live in Wolverhampton.
Having lived in the States this had me in stiches.

He tours quite often still, not sure if that joke is still in his set.

When i saw him (Tom Stade) in Stafford he mentioned it, very briefly.
    Perhaps it's his garlic bread.

    Seeing him again this year!

Jimmy Carr's Work in Progress was very good last night.

I've seen work in progress gigs before (which have been and allowed to be a bit off, of course), but his was as good as a set.

I’ve just booked Henning Wehn tickets for next April at Stafford Gatehouse.
We’ve seen him a few times before and he’s always been really funny.
Always a sell out too so book early to avoid disappointment!

Booked tickets for the met, but now realised it's easter weekend and we were planning on going to Wales. Bugger!
