Couture Wall 'Art'

Last week I walked past a Couture employee painting advertising murals for the fourthcoming Halloween celebrations - on the wall next to what was the fancy dress shop (now nice looking flats)

Yesterday, walking back from the train @Goldilox and I spotted a terrifying clown by the same hand on the wall next to Denry's.

Today both have been painted over. Were they in violation of something? Did someone complain? Did anyone else spot them?

Advertising and signage is usually subject to planning consent, if any sort of size is involved.

I very rarely use that section of Newport Road, the traffic is just too infuriating. It's possible that I haven't been along there this year.

I did wonder if that was the case, but wasn't sure painting on a building you own was covered by that - since I'm guessing the advertising banners on the rest of the building are fine.

It is possible that the banners are 'permitted', considered temporary, are being quietly ignored, or have just not been referred to the authorities.

It applies to all signs - it is possible, though unlikely, that your house number could contravene the regulations, if you had it a good bit bigger than normal.

The situation applies to everything, you can, subject to the prevailing whim of the authorities, be held accountable for painting your house in an unorthodox manner.

On the subject of banners, the banner of the defunct gym by Gaol Square looks like it might end up in the road shortly.
