Black marks this week go to Tescos... Went in on Weds evening - no baskets (as usual) by the door. The baskets are almost opposite the customer service desk, so they could see there were none. Staff by the self service tills were standing around talking, next to a mountain of baskets that could have been returned to by the entrance..... I then found they'd stopped bloody selling what I went in for. Then called into the petrol station which was really busy, except all of the pumps seemed to have the diesel hoses out of use. Bit of a problem if you're in said diesel motor vehicle as you then have to extract yourself out of the place again. A "no diesel" notice might have been handy...
Yes the lack of baskets at tesco is a bug bear of mine and no management to tell either( why should the workers cop the complaints)
Add another cuffy point to tesco for this one, always have to do a cheeky dive under the self checkouts to find a basket

Also why is the exit gate thing on the opposite side now, bit inconvenient having to cut across everyone coming in if you've paid at the cig tills, not to mention the first time I went in after it had changed. Looked a right prat getting lost on the way out
Of the past couple of dozen times i've been into tesco, every single time i've had to go to the self checkouts to get a basket. it's ridiculous.

just returned from Tescos , absolute chaos in there . Queues for all the tills at least 5 deep , the self service area had at least three lines of customers with no real idea of who was queueing for which checkout. Half the tills were shut , but loads of staff on shop floor putting home shop orders together. Is this normal for a Saturday ?

Home shop trolleys drive me mad in Tesco - it would make more sense for that to be done late at night and would probably be quicker too as I bet the staff get asked loads of questions about where stock is etc. I went to Tesco today for petrol and that was chaotic with some of the pumps out of action - had to wait ages.

The home shop trolley operators in Tesco are ace for asking where things are because they know where _everything_ is. Most shop floor employees really only know their own department but the home shopping pickers know the whole store inside out.

On the subject of Tesco I see they have made a return to their 1-atom thick carrier bags.

I applaud their commitment to sustainability and pioneering the use of biodegradable carrier bags but I would prefer it if they didn't biodegrade before I got home.

I've had a few turn into confetti, had to hoover out the wardrobe, trying to get rid of them as quick as possible now.

I have a trio of Cuffy customer services to report -
Firstly the couriers Hermes - We had a parcel delivered to the office while we were out - they put a card through the door saying they had left the parcel behind the bin - there was no parcel behind the bin! There was no customer service number on the card and we can't find a contact number on their website - so we emailled them and was told that they cannot divulge any information about people who have sent the parcel so we must contact any retailers ourselves to find out who it was from and the retailer can then deal with Hermes to claim compensation. The only problem is we havent ordered anything that hasnt already been delivered and have no idea who the package is from. We have raised the issue with them 4 times now that other couriers we deal with do no leave packaging in places such as behind the bin without written consent to do so - as yet they havent addressed this issue and have sent us the same automated reply 4 times now!
ditto this!

last year i ordered a nice suit online.. i won't go into too much detail (for reasons you'll see in a minute), but suffice to say it was from the most expensive high-street store you can think of, and it was the most expensive suit they sold..

anyway.. i was off work a few days later, and as i went into the kitchen to make a brew, i saw a hermes delivery driver disappear from outside my house.. i opened the door, and there, in the rain, was a massive box addressed to me.. he didn't knock or anything, just left the great big box on the doorstep.. in the rain.. for everyone to see..

incensed, i phoned the supplier the next day, intending just to play with them a bit.. y'know, claim the delivery never turned up and what were they going to do about it, that sort of thing.. i assumed they would eventually find some kind of proof that they had delivered the item, at which point i was going to go into maximum smug mode about how their stupid delivery driver nearly cost them £300, etc..

but it never got that far.. they had no record of the delivery at all, so just refunded me in full! so, whilst hermes are indeed shit, i got a pimptastic suit for free thanks to them lol..

We still havent got to the bottom of it - they are now saying the courier driver put the card through the wrong door, even though she tried to ring us when she attempted delvery. Despite being asked 5 times now they still havent said why they thought it was a good idea to leave the parcel behind a wheelie bin.

So to summarise you intentionally defrauded a supplier of £300.
No Hermes did not deliver the item as per their delivery policy and would therefore have had to pay the £300 not the supplier.

The goods were received. DB defrauded £300 regardless of who may have paid it in the end.

As an aside, what is Hermes delivery and compensation policy?

I generally don't plan on going shopping late at night. It usually a post-pub snack gathering run that gets out of hand.

Anyway my Cuffy rant... The Royal Mail have done it again.
Not content with last week dumping a package in my bin and getting it wet (thus knackering half the electronic goodies inside), then forcing me to trek down to Newport Road to sign for a package about the size of a C90 and worth not much more, today they put a card through the door saying that a package is being held for me IN STOKE! And I know all it contains is 2 SD cards.

Hermes seems to be just random local people rather than official looking couriers. I was off sick one day and a lady came to the door with a parcel for vault boy. she was just in jeans and a cardigan and driving a little polo or something.

However another parcel which he accidentally miss-typed the postcode wrong by ONE letter was apparently undeliverable by hermes (literally everything else on the address was correct and we could see from the tracking it had made it's way all the way to Stafford then been turned down by the delivery person allocated it) - he ordered it thru amazon and they don't do second chances or anything so it went back to amazon and he was refunded. And by the time he could order it again it had gone up by £50!

Hermes often leave parcels on my steps outside my door to get wet in the rain, in full view of the road and people walking past.

the inability of some delivery drivers to deliver - their job! - astounds me. I almost want to become one to show them how to use freaking google maps!

saying that the parcel force guy who comes to our office is an angel - we gave him an xmas present we like him so much. and there was this one time where a courier PHONED the office when he couldn't find us rather than giving up. We always supply phone numbers where possible.

Yes, Hermes do employ people using their own cars to collect and deliver parcels.

I've both sent and received quite a lot of parcels with Hermes now without any problems at all. When sending you can specify where the parcel is to be left if no one is in, based on instructions from the recipient. You can require a signature but this costs extra.

If parcels are being left where you don't want them to be left then either give instructions when ordering (if possible) or leave a note on your front door with instructions. The Hermes person who does the round in my area is really good.

I also like that Hermes will leave without signature, as it saves a lot of faff. Some couriers are a right pain. (sh)Citylink won't even leave with a neighbour or let them sign. Then you end up with a trip to Newcastle to fetch the parcel. Parcelfarce will at least leave stuff at a nearby post office sometimes. I generally try to have stuff delivered to work though if it's coming by courier.

I've mentioned these before on here but cannot recommend Decreased Ironing Services enough. I wanted some shirts ironing last Friday and rang to ask when I could drop them off. Louise finished work in Stone in the afternoon and called into Eccleshall on her way back to Stafford and collected them from me and then even delivered them back to Eccy on Monday, all on hangers and with dust covers. She's based in Rising Brook and can be contacted on 07505 364429 or 01785 612124

Major black marks for Bridgfords. Despite us proving that they were wrong (at the cost of £££ to have a survey done!) that the flat we were living in WAS uninhabitable, after 7 months of them telling us there was no problem, it was all fine, giving us a rude, dismissive attitude and even hanging up on the phone, no appology for for everything they put us through and their dismissal of us despite paying for a survey to be done to prove the place was slowly killing us. We got our full deposit back and A MONTH AND A HALF after they gave us a section 21 notice we FINALLY got back the fee of £125 we paid them to renew our tenancy (we were under the illusion they were going to fix the problems) and no appology for having to chase it up and wait so long.

No apology for the fact they gave us a wrong cheque first, no apology for how long it took to get a cheque to us in the first place, no apology for their dismissal of us despite the evidence... the list goes on. Disgraceful.

Bad luck Trapnest :(

We rented through them back in October and they seemed ok to us, although the bloke who we dealt with clearly hated his job. He didn't find me asking 'is the dust included in the price?' amusing.

If forced to give one, my only complaint would be the apparently extortionate fees charged by the agent to both the tenant and the landlord. It cost us over £350 all in to move in the end, on top of rent/deposit.

Seems like you got treated badly all the way along though :(

Massive cuffy for Walmsley's. After all this time they are still fobbing us off about our chair. Our patience is about to evaporate.
