I'm sure that the general ethos of this forum doesn't advocate breaking the law by endorsing the sale of restricted products to minors.vodelia said:'Shoes' I don't think there's any need for you to be like that. Lots of members have posted their opinions here because it's a forum and that's what people do in forums.
No, I don't carry ID if I'm popping to the supermarket or to my local shop and I'm sure I'm not the only person who doesn't.
Sincere apologies for butting in on your little discussion and thanks for being rude to me for no reason. Certainly a different way of making a newish member feel welcome.
To be fair until 18 months ago I had no ID I could easily carry around, not sure I had any at all!shoes said:tbh i have never understood the whole not just putting everything in your wallet/purse and having done with it - works well for me anyhow!
I was asked on my 33rd birthdayshoes said:I wasn't being rude or trying to make you feel unwelcome its just that a 29 year old getting upset that they can't get served just seemed a little odd to me - not to mention I'd be down right flattered lol
Oh you don't need to tell me that - I'm quitting smoking at the moment, and it sucks ass. Feel good for it though, apart from the fact i constantly want to explode and bitch at people for not carrying ID lolvodelia said:It is equally flattering and annoying. The beer I can take or leave but the fags are not a laughing matter!!!
For someone so youthful looking I'd have thought that was a must matey!tek-monkey said:To be fair until 18 months ago I had no ID I could easily carry around, not sure I had any at all!

The law requires you to be over 18 to buy alcohol, it doesn't require you to prove you are over 37 or whatever the policy supermarkets seem to have adopted is. The law does not require you to hold a driving licence or passport. I can't remember the last time I was ID'd in a pub though (10yrs+ ago I'd say) - it would appear they're more capable of exercising common sense than supermarkets (who are responsible for some of the alcohol problems that exist because they are selling booze below cost price...). I can understand retailers asking for proof of age if you are or look as though you might be 18 or under, what annoys me as the complete absence of common sense. What irritates me equally is that I've never been ID'd in a supermarket when in work clothes, but only when I'm in non-work clothes, so clearly there's an element of prejudice in how the policy is applied.shoes said:The point is though that if you wish to drink at a pub and that pub requires you to have a passport or driving licence and you haven't got on then then thats your problem not theirs. As i said they're not expensive, and they're not difficult to get hold of providing you have a basic level of literacy and a stamp.
