I want to give loads of praise to two businesses; King Cod and the Bird in Hand pub.
Last Friday, the wife and I ordered a chip shop tea from king cod. We made the order before we had the heavy snowfall. Had king cod cancelled our delivery we would have completely understood, however to our amazement they still fulfilled the order despite one delivery driver having a car accident a few minutes before. Huge thanks. They went above and beyond what I would have expected.
Secondly, huge praise to Terry, Dee and Sarah at the Bird in Hand. Not only do they serve brilliant beer and great food at very reasonable prices they also offer superb customer service has demonstrated yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday my wife and I and our 1 year old child spent an hour in the pub. I'm always nervous taking my child(ren) into real ale pubs because they are not always welcome, however the staff at the BiH are always really friendly towards us but that's not why I'm writing this post.
Yesterday, the amazing, wonderful, caring staff at the BiH showed compassion, respect and warmth to a homeless man. Unbeknown to me at the time they allowed a homeless man to sit in front of the fire to dry his clothes and warm his body, whilst enjoying a lovely meal and hot drink. I'm sure some pubs would have turned the lovely man away or made him sit in the corner out of way but not them. They were brilliant and the man was so lovely to my little boy. A really nice man that, i suspect, doesnt get treated very well by alot of people. The staff at the bih reminded my wife and I (not that we needed reminding) that everyone whether they are homeless or not deserve to be treated the same as everyone else, especially at Christmas. Truly heart warming.
The bih is now my joint favourite pub, alongside the floodgate and no.7
