Amazon seemed to have replaced PC World in my world. Curry's still get a few small sales off me, usually when something has broken, the parking helps, but Carphone have never ever seen my dosh

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
When PC World was made smaller a couple of years or so back, I was told by a member of staff that the Currys store would be eventually moving in and it would be made bigger again with a second floor added (similar to TKMaxx).

If Carphone Warehouse move into the PC World/Currys stores I won't be venturing in there.

I went in Carphone warehouse on the retail park for the first time a few months ago when I was leaving Virgin mobile. They were most helpful when they got me set up with a EE Sim contract (a lot more helpful than the town EE store !).

Only actually bought anything in PC world when son went in for his desktop computer (he knows one of the staff so we went in when he was there as he trusted him ) but I have always found them too pushy, trying to sell additional stuff that I must have , and always ended up walking out having not purchased anything.

Only went in Currys the once whilst looking at cookers. The sales assistant told me "I could look on our computer for you to see if we have anything more suitable, but you are better off looking yourself on-line when you get home ! " A great salesperson  , ended up buying one from Truview that day instead.

A mate briefly worked for them, he left because he wouldn't push unsuitable crap on people that didn't know better.

Yeah, unfortunately he was knowledgeable about the products and accurately matching them to the needs of the customer so it was never going to work.

Could you recommend somebody buy an £80 HDMI cable without laughing?

Was it on here that I heard of a PC World sales guy flogging about £2.5k worth of kit to an old guy that just wanted to surf the net and send E-mails? Or did I dream it?

Quite a lot of Currys & PC World shops have been merged for some time. Mostly if you go into a shop labelled PC World it is full of fridges, cookers, washing machine etc with a bit of computer stuff stuck in one corner. PC Worlds that actually specialise in computing equipment are becoming rare. (Festival Park has a proper PC World, Telford has a household electrical one).

If the usually empty Carphone Warehouse in Queens goes, maybe Costa will be able to expand into it & give customers a little more room.

The PC World store is definitely closing in Stafford, along with either one or both Carphone stores. All staff affected will have the opportunity to be reloacted to either the Currys store or a neighbouring store.

With most people using tablets or laptops the days of buying CPU coolers and sticks of RAM from a shop are long gone.

You can get a lot of the stuff they sell in Tescos now.
