Dead birdies

Over the past 24 hours we've discovered 3 dead birds in our back garden - not sure what type but I'd imagine they are only day olds. The first the dog discovered, but I've since found another 2, one of which was just on the patio close to the house.

Just got me curious as to why (I assume) the parents discard them from the nest

It's possible they could have been turfed out by a cuckoo chick - unlikely i would've thought, but possible.

More likely they had died in the nest and it's just a bit of housekeeping;

Surprised the magpies didn't get to them before you did.
