Decent beer garden in stafford?

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
Is it not the Holly Bush at Salt and the Hollybush at Seighford? Not that it matters here...
You are of course correct. I shall inflict pain on myself this afternoon as punishment by paying a return visit to Rugeley.

Cheers. Some good options. My old reliable (the sun) has a dire beer garden so fancied a change. Many thanks

The Bear & pheasant has a decent beer garden and its not too far from the Sun, it won a CAMRA pub of the month recently too!

In town then the Swan and Butlers Bell have nice outdoor areas. I quite like sitting outside Pizza Express as well but you have to order food.

I love the Rose and Crown, beer 'garden' is basic but clean and well kept, and as mentioned above - great beer.

I used to like sitting out the back off the Hand and Cleaver - unfortunately no longer an option.

Post house might be quite nice - to sit and watch the world go by.

The coach and horses has a small balcony overlooking the river, although I've never been in there.

Just realised that my daytime/beer garden drinking has been seriously disrupted by my driving licience/rural location/2 small children.

That pub is The Red Lion. It used to be our local and for years was fabulous. Then it was sold and was by no means fabulous. We stopped going so I can't tell you what it is like now. It does definitely have a good car park and extensive beer garden. It used to have a little grey Fergie for the children to sit on.

When I am Queen I will decree that nobody making a roaring success of a country pub is allowed to leave unless they have satisfied a committee (headed by myself) that the new occupants are going to uphold the present high standards.

Further, if one of the owners is also responsible for the food, then they shall be required to stay on for a minimum term of three (iii) years after the sale of said hostelry.

Think of the number of country pubs which were full to the gunnels until a change of hands. So begins a rapid decline that sees them closed and turned into houses because "Nobody wants the pub". We do want a pub. We've just had to travel further to find a good one.
