Decent local double glazing companies

Hi folks,

Anyone got any suggestions for local double glazing companies that will give me a quote and then buggar off to let me think about it without all the pressure sales?

Would prefer a Stafford company rather than one of the big nationals.

Excellent sustainable wood frames and super insulative glass etc. The last e-mail I had from them also said they were starting to use Accoya (as recently mantioned on Grand Designs) - basically this is pickled wood that will last for 60 years without needing anything doing to it. PVC will last last than 20 and is seriously environmentally damaging and off gasses lots of horrid chemicals into your house too, you cant mend it if you break it, it discolours in the sun and it's difficult to paint if you fancy a change.

We used Stafford Joinery in Baswich for our hardwood double galzed replica windows. Took them 3 months to actually make them and a whole week to fit them......proper workmanship. Believe it or not they were actually cheaper than the UPVC alternative? They have been treated with a white opaque stain that looks like eggshell white paint but does not peel but merely turn a slight grey after 6 years or so and doesn't require sanding etc just another coat. There is definately no pressure sales here as they are busy.

I can recommend 2. I had Target Windows in Stone and Stafford UPVC come out they gave me a quote and then said if you are interested call them back if not they would not hassle. They were both true to their word. They were also honest (and competitive) in their pricing. I opted for Target as they were a few pounds cheaper, the quality of the work was outstanding.

At the same time I had Safestyle out and they did they old sales pitch started at thousands and they said there is 50% discount and then they would knock more off for this and that. They would also not take no for an answer at one point saying they will wait in the car and come back in 5 minutes when we have made a decision. I told him to wait in his car and not come back.

Therefore my recommendation would be:

I had stafford UPVC, and they were really clean, put dust sheets all through the house, took them 3 days to do 10 windows, and hoovered before they went home every day.
