Decent Takeaway in Stafford

Having lived in the Far East for a few years, I can say that Essence of the Orient is the best Chinese food we have found in Stafford. Tiger Bowl is also very good and they have a few menu items which EotO doesn't.

I saw this guy in an Italian restaurant ordering pizza in fluent Italian. The waiter seemed to appreciate his willingness to accept their culture.

So, I tried the same thing in Essence.

I squinted my eyes and shouted, "Harro! Spesha frah raice prease!" But instead of showing appreciation, they took the upturned prawn-cracker basket from my head and told me to get out.

Has anyone here heard anything about Romance Pizza on the Wolverhampton road? Has it changed hands? Gone are the smart, polite staff to be relaced by scruffy 20 somethings and last nights pizza was just not right. If I hadn't have had a large glass of wine I would have taken it back. Couldn't finish it and stomach is definitely a bit queezy this morning.
This was my former absolute fave pizza place in Stafford but am wary of returning now.

I *think* a lot of the original staff moved to Viviera - the Italian restaurant on Foregate Street - but we've had Pizzas from Romance lately and not had any issues.

Perhaps it was a 'one off' but there was a general air of boredom / disinterest about the place.
Think next time I go it will be at a week-end when the toppings are being turned around more quickly, the cheese may have been there some time.

For fish and chips, Chris' fish bar is the only one in Stafford open on a Sunday.

Weston Road chippy has parking and a cash machine within 50 ft of each other.

Curry Kuteer in the centre of town has a cash machine opposite, does 2 for the price of 1 on takeaways with free poppadoms - though regrettably, they don't have such good parking any more since the redevelopment in the centre of town.

Finally, Lotus house has super-secret parking behind and I personally think they're great!

Though for food in a hurry, the Chinese on J14 (all you can eat) is cheap at lunchtime, and most importantly, you can be eating within 1 minute of walking in the door!

Enjoy Stafford!
