Again, that is the problem, the state of Stafford is a joke to you but you won't do anything. You cannot have a serious discussion, you see it as 'sparring' just to score points. That is because you have no answers to any of my points, and can find no flaws in my arguments.
Oh I thought you'd finished! As I said before you don't know me so it's unfair for you to assume that I think Stafford is a joke. I wouldn't live here if I thought that.

My suggestion to you is do something to support your town. One thing we can all do for free is speak positively about it to everyone we talk to (and especially online). Bring people here to shop, or for a night out. Show them the history- it's rich. I brought friends from London last year and showed them the castle, the ancient high house and shops. Those little independent places in Mill Street. They were fascinated and talk about it back home. They had no idea we had these things. Guess what: before they came, they thought Stafford was some dump somewhere up north! I felt proud to show them round and I don't even originate from Stafford. They didn't know about the industry we still have and number of people employed in the factories.

Start a business if your in a position to, or get involved in a good cause. Use the town - spend your money in the shops you like. Publish articles in the paper or online about Stafford (positive ones). Let's get together as a forum and lobby business or the MP or the council and tell them what we want.
It may sound crazy to some, and let's face it, some people can only see the negative side of life, but if you don't at least try to change things, you will guarantee things won't change, or you will have to accept someone else's view of how things should be.

You will obviously think I'm talking crap, and I expect you to now, but at least I try.

How do I edit this?
Princes Street feels a bit dated & unloved & the policy of patching the market square with tarmac has made it feel a bit less looked after (I'm assuming this is a temporary until it gets a full resurface at some point), but on balance I think Stafford is fairly well looked after and maintained & not especially run down. The new developments certainly don't suggest a town in decline to me.

As you said yourself, you are talking crap, and you know it. No-one from London wouldcever be interested in a wasteland like Stafford, and they do think it is a 'dump up north' (your words). I would never show anyone around Stafford, there is nothing to show anyway. I am ashamed of Stafford, and when I talk to people from out of town, if they ask where I live I usually say 'near Birmingham' or 'in the Birmingham area' or even 'in the midlands' and keep it as vague as possible.
Stafford will never improve until people accept just how bad it is. As the old saying goes, you can't polish a t*rd.

People like you are exactly the reason why Stafford is in the state it is in. No pride in the town , no ambition for it, happy to settle for second or third best.

Of course the county town should be the best. Otherwise what right has it got to be the county town?
I think he has more pride in this town then yourself.

Anybody that thinks this town is run down needs to visit Strood, Rochester, Barking, Dagenham, Brixton, Rhyl and I'm sure there is worse places then those too. People have nothing better to do then moan and never be satisfied. If your opinion is Stafford is run down so be it, I just hope your never forced to move to a run down town.

He does have more pride in the town, yes. I have no pride in the town, I am ashamed of it not proud. But I am not in here trying to say how great Stafford is, I am not that deluded. I am a realist and pointing out its failings. That is why I am working so hard to change things, but trying to have a serious discussion on this forum is like bashing my head against the wall.

Again, you have not read earlier posts. Stafford us not the most run down turn in the country. It is merely run down.

You said he had no pride in the town. You most certainly are not a realist, you very unrealistic infact as you have the inability to see the good as well as the bad. I don't think I've heard you point out one good thing, ever. You also have unrealistic viewpoints of forum members that you are very rude to that you don't know.

I've stopped taking you seriously now and realise, as has been pointed out, that you are a troll. I don't know why you don't move if you hate it so much.
What I've said is the truth and you don't like it. My friends in London loved it here and come back regularly. I continue to promote this town and enjoy the positives.

Have a nice new year! If you want to.

So you have no reasoned arguments and can only resort to personal abuse.

It's all relative isn't it, and the poll is badly worded, at best. Walk from Greyfriars, past the derelict house and the dodgy nasty advertising hordings, along past the half empty old hospital and the empty nasty 60's building opposite, across the roundabout to the north half of the town centre where most of the shops are empty or shite (Sportsdirect, charity and home & bargain territory), it's clear to see that it has some very run down public areas. Is it run down compared to some inner city ghetto, probably not. Do areas of the town reflect the Conservative voting affluence in it's midst? It most certainly doesn't. Hence I voted that it is run down!!

Exactly what I have been saying for some time. The council is inept and its members motivated either by party politics or personal interest. They should all be removed and replaced.

Sadly most people in Stafford, indeed most even in here, are too blind to perceive a problem and so will vote in the existing councillors yet again. And the rot will continue. As the saying goes, if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got. My experience on this board is that most people in Stafford are small minded and frightened of change, and will continue to take the path of least resistance and do nothing.

No consistency with the spelling corrections there Trollboy. Do you only correct those that don't agree with you?

Certainly agree with that. The councils and most of the cllrs were worse than useless when the hospital was falling apart. They should have been removed or resigned in shame when the Francis Inquiry came out, but instead just continued scratching each others backs, led by someone with vested interests in virtually everything in Stafford.

On of our 'local' councillors apparently lives in London, which says it all.
