This is not a spam or multi-used ad!

I am a local web designer/developer just starting (6 months) a freelance business.

Websites really do help businesses and individuals get a presence, generating more interest and therefore money!

I have at GCSE level, College level and am currently on a Web Degree course at Staffordshire University.

Having just finished my first year I now have free time meaning your site will be made quickly, professionally and hassle free to you!

Rates vary depending on what you require so please do get in touch. Basic sites I will more often than not make for FREE!!!

My online portfolio is at www.mfwebdesigns.com or if you require a hard copy - I can send via email my Portfolio Brochure or deliver to you.

I have my own transport and live in Stafford itself.

Thanks for reading and please do get in touch.

I'm afraid the web business is fairly saturated, several members here already work in that area myself included (not that I do outside work anymore, I'm too lazy!). Good luck though :)

Yeah I have to agree with tek on this one. Most people who require websites either already have them, have learned how to do the basics for themselves, or have someone that they know and trust to do it for them.

Good luck with the venture though

If you have a Mac you can use iWeb. Its what I created my website with.

Good luck with the venture.

You cannot really expect people to get excited on the evidence you have presented

The 19Nineties came to mind when I opened your link

Agreed. It does make it seem a little shabby.

Can I firstly say thank you to all for taking the time to reply!!!

Although some comments i believe were a bit harsh I accept and am very grateful for all your feedback!

Being a student full time i am more trying to make a portfolio to show in job interviews and to help me when im looking for work after uni. I think a degree and portfolio of live sites will help me get noticed and hopefully land a half decent job. I am more doing it for that reason than the money.

And for the record yer i like celebrity juice haha! its funny!! (... and i tihnk P Andre is a good dad who deals well with the celebrity status and divorce and stuff well).

Thanks again guys - think ill have to start looking at redesigning haha.

I have to say I rarely meet someone who can design and code, myself included. I can collate data across multiple databases on multiple platforms and get out exactly what I need, but I can't make it look nice! Maybe concentrate on one side, and find someone else that can help with the other?

Top advice. Applies in many fields. +1

Yer cheers might be worth doing that. By the end of the next uni year i should have a clear indication of which side i want to do. I would say im probably a better coder (however still with a lot to learn haha)

I used to do that kind of bespoke web design for small companies, but I found that in the end it wasn't worth the effort as they all expect to pay peanuts. As much as I hate to say it, WordPress etc (using free or low-cost themes) really is the way to go. Unless you work for a large customer with a clearly defined brand image, bespoke web designs are just a waste of time and effort.

If you're into the design side of things, maybe just create a range of themes for web site engines already out there.
Or alternatively create an API or clever database if you're into coding.

I learnt more through necessity than I ever did in education, try setting yourself tasks you cannot currently do and see where it takes you. You'll find tricks you never knew existed, I discovered AJAX by accident and it gave my classic ASP a new lease of life.

On the working with someone else thing, its not just to create a better product. Teamwork, idea sharing and compromise are very important skills in the workplace. If your portfolio shows these too it can only help.

Whatever you decide though, good luck :)

Education is, or at least should be, about learning how to learn - and it's very important to realise that getting a bit of paper and wearing a funny hat are just the start of the process.

Two people will create three times as much as one - if they're the right two, of course.

Agreed, my degree taught me to absorb and process information very quickly - then discard it again when not needed! The thing is I can learn quickly, and as long as I keep doing something I don't need retraining every few months :D
