So what's the score then? Anyone have any insider info?

I'm not starting this as a "not on my doorstep" or a "we have a social responsibility" thread either way. I'm just investigating developments. My free stafford post doesn't always hit the doormat.

It's going to be a soup kitchen - not the posh expensive one in town but for Doxey vagrants and similar shite of a like serving the population of this crater hole of an area.

I think the new owner has been touched by a light that usually only effects Lotto winners

Somehow - 'someone' distributed mailshots to the area saying it would be a Bail Hostel - result a mild panic amongst residents. Then 'someone' contacted the Express & Star and spun them a line that it was not to be a Bail Hostel but a 'professionals' residence for 'police and teachers' . The Express & Star bought the whole thing

Result :Most residents sit back relieved that a bunch of crims aint on their doorstep - relax

In no place in the application is there any mention of status/income/professionals/restrictions on occupancy etc etc

So - Yes, unless 'you' rapidly contact the planning department and make comment ( on planning matters like parking etc, only ) and contact your Tillington ward councillors - it will become a 'soup kitchen'/dosshouse/DSS Den

Footnote

Planners will often take representation after the date given for consultation on the application

Reading the article they mentioned having a place on Marston Road. If it's the place I imagine it to be, my ex lives there. They are very expensive bed-sits in effect, he was paying £450 for a room with a shower room, a sink and a fridge.

In fact, there are government schemes to help key workers onto the property ladder, thus completely negating the need for a cop hostel?

Ummm..

The planning application makes no reference to rental price or status of potential inmates

The planning application is for what are generally known as a load of bedsits

Just because the applicant may or may not already have 'very expensive' rooms with a sink and a fridge does not mean that this is the same situation

Therefore any spin on who may live there , and what rental value might be placed on each bedsit should permission be granted is simply that - spin

Professional peoples bedsits, hmm. I'd only live in a bedsit if I was unemployed or extremely in debt, but then I can hardly be called professional! So its just bedsits essentially, for whatever purpose they are required. And once built, should the local authority choose to use some for any people they need to house, they will.

Surely now the Bethany is nearly finished, the crackheads will move back into it. Therefore the abodes left by them will now be available for the rapists and kiddy fiddlers to use without resorting to building a new place for them? Then maybe it can open as a pub again, simples!

I hear the plan is for 12 en-suite bedrooms and two kitchens. While the developers' claims of "for professionals" could potentially be seen as misleading, (it is an unusual type of "professional" who wants to share a kitchen with 5 strangers), bedsits are hardly a cutting-edge concept directly from Bin Laden's Book of Evil, now are they?
