E-mail clients..

what e-mail client do y'all use? i've been perfectly happy with outlook express, but on the few occasions when i have wanted to backup/transfer all my e-mails and settings i haven't been able to do it.. well, another reinstall/transfer is imminent, so i figured i would ease this transition by maybe migrating to a new client - one that supports the easy transfer/backup of data..

we use outlook at work, which seems OK, so i was thinking of using that - but it's a bit heavyweight for the basic e-mail duties i need.. i like the way it stores all messages and settings in a single .PST file though, and this would make backing-up and transferring all my e-mails a piece of proverbial..

that's basically all i've ever used - outlook and outlook express.. does anyone have any recommendations for other e-mail clients? i use firefox as my browser, since IE became the abomination that is v7, so i'm quite interested in mozilla's thunderbird client.. does anyone have any experience of this? does it over the backup and migration of data that i'm after?

thanks, geeks :haw:

I don't use Thunderbird as I'm mainly a hotmail man, but I've installed a Thunderbird on my mothers PC as she gets an incredible amount of spam and Thunderbird has a "learning mechanism" which you train to recognize spam and delete it automatically so that you nver see it. Quit impressive stuff really, and none of the M$ bloated download.

I use Thunderbird as i got fed up with Outlook. It imported all my stuff from Outlook with no problems and works ok. The only problem i have with it is it keeps downloading updates and then not being able to update all the files.According to their help pages it's a known fault, i just havent got around to trying to fix it yet. I did give up on it for a while and downloaded Pegasus Mail but decided that Thunderbird was better even with its faults.
