To be fair, within living memory, Eastgate Street and its immediate environs used to be quite a busy area in the 'night time economy', as we talk about these days - the Vine, the Bankhouse, Ye Olde Rose & Crown, the Sheridan, the Gatehouse, the County Officers', the British Legion, the Labour Club, the Shrewsbury Arms, the Assembly Rooms, the Nelson and the Unicorn - plus the chippy, the takeaway and the café by the bus stops. If the area is going to be 'regenerated', then it is an aspect that might be worth considering within the whole.
