My sister had one of those halogen heaters in her conservatory on Christmas day, waste of space IMO.

They keeping you warm when the rest of the room is cold. That's what they're good for, and since heating is generally to keep us warm and not melt the snowmen outside they're clearly the best IMO. =)

I find the halogen ones heat air well, but not items in the room. Mind you this is in the shed, and its been -5 in there for weeks!

Perhaps it's a dodgy one, you could hold your hand about a foot away from the front of it without any discomfort at all.

@Trumpet - I lost this thread donkies ago, but you could have paid them about that much to have one of their own bottles (calor compatible) and then cheaper to refill next time around. I think calor must have done some kicking off about others using their bottles or something.

Aah, didn't know I could use other bottles on my Calor heater, as I use propane on my camping cooker which has a totally
different adaptor and I think butane is different again I'd assumed that bottles must be appliance specific. Had the guy been a bit of a salesman he perhaps could've drummed up a bit of trade there.
Do you have a number for them? I'd like to check prices.

I honestly don't mate, have never rang them. I know a standard sized bottle of gas is currently £16 or £16.50 (Friend last purchased in December). I'd expect a bottle of theirs could cost you another £10 - £20 the first time only (bottle deposit or whatever you want to call it)

What I would suggest is taking along your regulator next time. Explain what it's off, and see if they have bottles which could be used with it. Failing that (and as my mate did), they suggested and sold him an alternative regulator for around £7 - again bear in mind these are one off charges. Once your in the swing of things it's just your usual £16ish for each swap-over (My mate has 2 replaced each time to make it worth the trip).

Before I suggested this place to him, we tried B&Q amongst others.... HOW MUCH!!!!?? I think they wanted about £80 the first time you take a bottle from them, and several forms of ID! We soon walked out. lol ;)
