Empty Building By Radford Bank Inn

Danjay

A few posts under my belt
Me and my friend have been wondering for a while about the empty boarded up building right next to the Radford Bank Inn. These days it's where the pub bins are kept, and general storage, but it's obviously not it's original use as there are boarded up windows all over it.

I've tried looking for old photos, back in the days when it was The Trumpet, but the only one I can find has that building off camera to the left. Anyone have any idea?

Enjoying a drop of red.
It used to be a small car repair garage but I don't know if it was anything else before that.

Yes, it was a garage that did sell a few cars as well. It was run by Ray Barron who is now a local councillor. He ran his business there before the pub owners wanted him to move. He then relocated to Marston Road where he ran the business before his retirement.

Reg Oakley ran the place for years before Ray Baron
Ray rented the lower workshop then when Reg died took over the whole place
The Brewery Owns the building and its now used for storage buy the pub

I was only thinking of that old garage the other day as I walked past. I got petrol there at one time as well, but can't remember when it stopped ( got to be sometime before 1979 ). Can also remember Charles Clark (Freedom Caravans site) being on just the small corner bit at Windsor Rd junction, with a bloke serving from the petrol pump.

My mate lived in The Trumpet and I have horrible memories of dreading going down the ladder from the trap door behind the bar to get to the downstairs bit when we were hanging around there.
